This was an old idea that came into my mind today... I was curious of Element Lad's history seeing that he was somewhat like Superman (without the episode of Message in a bottle)
The plot takes place in season 2 where Element lad recalls the horrors of the destruction of his home planet. Yet there is some hope that requires his own DNA. Brainiac 5 and Shrinking Violet take part in helping to revive Jan's kind by cloning him.
I take it all back of regretting living this life… All I know is that… I regret saying those words.
Suddenly the world is becomes pure white… the sky… the hills, the grass, the trees… even the outlines of every being… gone…
I found myself… cold, torn and alone… bodies smoldering in the flames of death… they were my family… my friends… my people.
I still recall looking at myself in the cool pool of water… my body was forming into many colors… rainbow actually. One moment I am a being of fire… next I am a slave to liquid. I screamed in terror… I am a monster!
"I found one! We have a survivor!" I remember looking up as a large man with a mask over his face reached out to me with open arms…
Was this hope? Oh please tell me! I didn't need hope… I already killed enough… why were they sparing me? This… This… horrid beast that killed for no reason! Kill me already! End this suffering that's all I ask for! I have no one! Do not spare me! Please!
But they take me anyways…
Jan stared into the vast sky. How very empty it was… like his heart. It was only five years ago when his powers came alive… it was also when he had destroyed the very home that he had grew up in as a child. Tears formed in his eyes as he choked. All because he didn't get his way. All because he acted like some spoiled brat…
He still remembered his mother's beautiful face that was paired with a beautiful voice. The way she sung to him when he was upset, the way she knew what bothered him. And his father… what a strong man… with a gentle heart. He loved him either way. He showed his son affection by swinging him up onto his shoulders and opened his arms when he came home from work.
But he took it all for granted. He didn't care at that point. All those things at that time didn't really matter to him. He threw it all away…
And now… here he was… the last of his kind.
