She heard them, she seen them, laughing and kissing. The battle against Naraku had ended, as well as the Shikon Jewel and the moment it did, Inuyasha went to Kikyo. He and Kikyo began their life anew. A life of love, laughter, and happiness. Kagome always envisioned she would be the one with Inuyasha, but it was just a child's dream. Inuyasha had chosen Kikyo, something she knew in her heart he would do, but never wanted to believe it.
She wonders, if she had been stronger, would he have chosen her. Maybe, if she didn't use the beads to try and control him, he would have stayed. The answers to her questions is something she will never know.
Inuyasha has Kikyo now, he isn't interested in Kagome anymore. She was a friend to him, but Kikyo is his wife and lover. She is the one that makes him smile and laugh now. She is the one who rubs his ears now. She is the one Kagome wanted to be.
It was heartbreaking. The first couple of months, she had refused to believe their relationship. She thought surely, Inuyasha would come back to her, but no matter how long she waited, it was always the same. There was no coming back.
Kikyo was his everything Inuyasha needs, his friend, lover, and ally. Together, Inuyasha and Kikyo fought as a team. Inuyasha didn't have to constantly save Kikyo, nor tell her what to do in battle. They were equals and understood each other perfectly.
If only, Kagome hadn't been so foolish as to try and change him, then her heart wouldn't have been broken. She should have let him be. If only...
So I never really understood why Kikyo and Inuyasha gets all the blame about the whole love triangle thing. I mean, isn't Kagome the stupid one for constantly taking Inuyasha back? Shouldn't Kagome know her self worth and that she doesn't have to be with a man who breaks her heart? I always thought of Kagome as the woman who is constantly getting cheated on, but never does anything about it, other than sulk and complain.
