"What is it?"
"Haven't the foggiest. White knight, did you make this?"
"I've never seen it in my life. Anyway, all my inventions have some use or other. Mr. Rabbit, it isn't yours?"
"Good gracious no! Does it look at all like me?"
"It does though, yer honor. Lookit the ears!"
"Oh, kindly shut up, Pat."
"I'll take it."
The heads of the assembled Wonderlanders all turned to the quiet young man sitting on a stool in the corner. He adjusted his large polka-dot bow tie and smiled dangerously, eyes glinting from beneath the brim of his hat. "I'm sure none of you mind at all."
The thing in the corner made a high mewing noise and stretched out its short arms to the man coming towards it. Its eyes were huge, and they were filled with tears as the thing was picked up and taken away from where it had been found, long black hair and long brown ears bobbing in time with the man's steps.
