Notes: I was thinking about Peter Pan…and then I started to think about Itachi for some reason…and then this popped out! Very similar style to the Manfred oneshot I did centered around Little Red Riding Hood…I should do a oneshot of some character centered around Alice in Wonderland…any suggestions?

Disclaimer: I do not own Itachi (god I wish) or Peter Pan

The Child That Never Was

(All children grow up, except for one.)

Uchiha Itachi was not that child.

His youth and innocence had been torn away and crumbled like a page from a book, the text now unreadable.

He was simply too young to be put into a battlefield that sometimes left adult men and women mentally unstable.

(All the world is made of faith, trust, and pixie dust)

The young (old) boy could not remember if he ever believed in this himself. To tell the truth he couldn't remember much of his childhood….oh wait, he didn't have one. His would be childhood had been washed in blood and intelligence far beyond his years.

(Can anything harm us mother, after the night lights are lit?)

One would think that after all he had accomplished, after all he had done in his short life span, he would be fearless.

Then one would be wrong.

Not exactly what most would call a fear of the dark…just…a certain part of him that was not fond of it at all.

Like the part of him that could not simply wish away the faces of his victims in the dark.

In the dark their screams would not leave his ears.

In the dark his hands were black, and he thinks that he can see the blood on them.

In the dark…(he has no pixie dust)

(If he had pixie dust he could fly…fly away)

But he doesn't, and even if he did, his belief and faith has all flown away to a place where he can never reach them. (Neverland)

(Neverland)

A place where he wouldn't have grown up, a place where he wouldn't have learned all of the ways to silently kill a man.

(To die would be an awfully great adventure)
