She lay on her back, eyes closed against the harsh moonlight.
He hovered above her, suspended on his elbows so his weight didn't crush her.
The moonlight cast a beautiful glow over his mate, a lazy sort of peace washing over the two of them. She sighed, eyelids heavy as she gazed up at him, squinting slightly.
"I love you…" he murmured quietly, dipping his head to capture her lips gently. They kissed slowly. They had all the time in the world.
A low purr rumbled from her chest, "I love you too…."
He leant on one arm, the other tracing patterns down her arm. Her eyes slipped shut again and she let out a soft laugh.
"You're beautiful," she murmured, lips barely moving. Her body felt so heavy and she was so relaxed.
"You're more beautiful…" he countered, and she laughed quietly, hands winding around his neck and pulling him down. She didn't mind the weight – it was comforting, having his solid bulk settled over her.
"Well…" she whispered, "You're the beautiful-est…"
"Not a word," he murmured, head tilted to kiss her jaw, slowly brushing his lips down her neck with only the slightest pressure.
"It is…" she protested, "If you put 'est' after any word, it becomes a word…"
"It's 'esque', my love…" he purred, kissing the corner of her grinning mouth, "You can put 'esque' after any word…"
She rolled her eyes, petting through his headfur to his dorsal stripes, scratching through the fur on his back.
"The sun's about to come up…" she whined softly, the moonlight slowly fading.
"Mm," he said quietly, "Like every other night…"
She sighed softly, wrapping her legs around his slender waist, tugging him even closer. She leant up, lips brushing his ear.
"I want to stay like this forever..."
He turned his head to the side, kissing her jaw and she dropped back, laying against the flat plank they lay on.
"We can," he murmured softly, staring down and pressing his lips to her forehead.
"I love you, Munk," she whispered,
"I love you too, Dem…"
