The sounds of House dressing down Taub echoed through the diagnostics office, emanating from the caustic doctor's connecting office and leaving the two remaining team members listening in and watching the scene like a bad car crash. During a particular impressive tirade involving Taub's mother and insinuating questionable genealogy, Kutner crossed the room, and after a moment of rummaging through his bag, surfaces again with a brightly wrapped present. Thirteen raises an eyebrow coolly as he approaches her with it, and inevitably offers the gift to her.

"Merry Christmas, Thirteen."

"You didn't have to, you know." This just receives a shrug in reply as he watches her unwrapping the necklace he had picked out.

"I know, but I felt like it anyway." A ghost of a smile appears on the female doctor's face as she spots the gift inside; she stands, stretching just a bit to kiss him lightly on the cheek resulting in turning Kutner a brilliant shade of red.

"Thank you." With that she was gone, ghosting away while Kutner holds his cheek with a goofy smile on his face and neither noticing the sudden silence in the next room, or the two doctors inside, one gaping and the other looking knowing and smug as usual.

It's in the wee hours of the morning when Kutner finally gets home and crawls into bed, the rest of the day having been filled with House's snide remarks and hours upon hours of helping Cameron in the ER.

He's almost asleep when he hears his front door open, and shortly after, the sound of footsteps can be heard in the room and his bed shifts slightly at the new weight and a warm, slim body slips under his arm. He leans over and kisses the woman next to him, tugging her against him in the process as she snuggles close.

"Merry Christmas, Remy." He feels her smile against him and she wraps an arm around him.

"Merry Christmas."

Hullo all, here's a short little Christmas snippet I had rattling around in my head for a while. I meant to have this up ON Christmas, but obviously that didn't happen. Enjoy!
