Rarity's Troubles

Chapter One: Fashion Fail

"Rarity, I absolutely must have this dress by next Tuesday!" "Rarity, I said with pink ribbons, not with pink bows!" "Rarity, did you hear me? I said I need a new outfit for the Gala!" "Rarity, I need my dress! Where is it?" "Rarity! I need a completely new, original dress by tomorrow! How far along are you?" Rarity's fashion shop was abuzz with customers. Rarity was running around with a clipboard and pencil, nodding and writing down the orders.

"Yes, I know Diamond Tiara; you need a new bow to match your tiara. Silver Spoon, stop badgering me! Granny Smith, what are you even doing here?" Rarity rushed about, taking up page after page of messily-written orders until her shop was empty. "Oh, how am I ever going to get all of these orders filled in time?"

"Rarity! Are you in there?" Rainbow Dash trotted into Rarity's shop, looking around. Instead of the usual squeaky-clean look, ribbons of every color were thrown around the room, pieces of thread fluttered to the ground, and fabric squares lay everywhere. Rarity was standing by a pony mannequin, a blue, magical glow emitting from her white unicorn horn as she manipulated scissors and fabric.

Rainbow Dash approached Rarity and tapped her on the shoulder. Rarity jumped, dropping the scissors and the messily-cut piece of fabric. "Rainbow Dash! Don't you know better than to sneak up on a pony while she's at work?" Rainbow Dash looked at the ground. "Sorry. But I need something from you." Rarity groaned. "Not another order!" "What? I need a cape to show off!" Rainbow exclaimed. "Ugh, Rainbow, you asked at the worst possible time! I already have eleven orders to fill by Wednesday!" Rainbow Dash sighed. "Well I GUESS it can wait, if you're going to be like that." She trotted off, leaving Rarity to her stressful work.

Tuesday night rolled around, and Rarity was hard at work. She still had three orders to fill. "Yellow to pink, no, this simply will not do!" She threw the tiara aside. "Diamond Tiara's order must be perfect!" She picked up another silver tiara and began winding fabric around it. She worked tirelessly until Wednesday morning. All of her orders were done. Ponies filed in one by one to see her newest works of art.

"Ugh! You expect me to wear that?" Diamond Tiara stared at the mess of fabric in disgust. Ribbons trailed off the ends and mismatching colors loosely formed the shape of the tiara. The young pony swiped the article off the table and stomped off. More ponies started to do the same. Rarity looked around. Her fashion designs were sloppy, mismatching, and unattractive. She had rushed to get them all done on time, and this made all of them uglier than the designs she had made for her friends at the Grand Galloping Gala! "Everypony, come back!" Each and every pony in the shop had left, muttering to themselves.

Weeks, even months went by without anypony buying anything from Rarity. She was desperate for customers. So desperate, even, that she scheduled an appointment with Princess Celestia. "Princess, I don't understand! What should I do?" "Rarity, I hate to say this, but if nopony is buying fashions from you, try something new." "Okay, Princess Celestia, I will." The minute those words left her mouth, Rarity's Cutie Mark disappeared. "What?" Celestia jumped back. Rarity gasped. "I can't be a blank-flank again!"

Author's Note:

Well, looks like Rarity's a blank-flank again! I can't imagine her without her Cutie Mark. Should interesting to see what she'll do to get it back, hmm?
