Peeta and Katniss's love story without the games

Peeta and Katniss have been best friends their whole lives. But will that amount to more than just friendship or love. Katniss's father died recently her mother ran the ER where they get most of their money from with Katniss's mother working so much Prim barely has a mother so Katniss assumes the role of motherhood to keep Prims life happy.

I went over to Peeta's house today and was greeted by his mother she said

"Katniss sweethear hi" and kissed me on the forehead while continuing to talk I noticed peeta standing there a tear rolling down his cheek. I decided to question him later.

"Hi " I said after she was done she looked at Peeta fericly and grumbled

"Since Katniss is here you get to play but your doubling up on chores tommorow GOT IT?" Peeta nodded and said

"Yes ma'm"

"What do you want to do Peeta?" I asked

"Katniss your to kind to Peeta your our guest you should get to do whatever you want to" she glared at Peeta who was looking down at the floor.

"What would you like to do Katniss?" he said still looking down at the floor. I shifted uncomfortably before ansewering

"Um...Maybe just go up to your room and hangout" he replied

"Alright" and we walked up the stairs together. Once we got their he lockedthe door and said

"you want to talk don't you?" I only nodded we walked to his closet and closed the door before I said

"Whats wrong" he replied

"Its my mother"

"Whats wrong with your mom" I asked slightly confused.

"She treats you like your her daughter and hates me" I only nodded

"I'm sorry Peeta"

"Its okay I only want a mother who loves me"

"At least you have me" I said he smiled and nodded eventually we drifted to sleep. I woke up to banging on the door and sat up confused. I woke Peeta. As soon as he heard the banging he turned green

"Stay here" he said I only nodded once he left I peered through the door. Peeta unlocked the door and his mother barged through and started yelling at him she yelled

"Peeta how dare you lock this door you know the punshment for that!" peeta just nodded

"Is katniss awake?" she asked

"No shes in the closet asleeep" he said

"Good"she said. Peeta was prepared for the blow she slapped his cheeks twice. Then pushed him to the ground and put her foot on top of him and counted to 180she raised her foot off of him. By now tears were falling down my eyes.

"It would be more but I don't want to wake sweet Katniss up you don't deserve her you know." she said Peeta only nodded and more tears fell. Peeta was still on the ground when she left. I ran out of the closet to his side and sobbed

"Peeta oh Peeta" he replied

"I'm okay Katniss" he tried to get up but couldn't.

"Your not fine Peeta you can't get up" I helped him up and put him on the bed. He started wheesing.

"I'll go get your dad" I said fighting back more tears I ran down stairs and saw he was just unpacking. When he noticed me he said

"Katniss what a suprise"

"Its Peeta please help" I said an burst into tears. 's face was immediatley filled with concern as I pulled him toward the direction. I burst through the door and saw Peeta wheesing and gasping for air

"What happened son" I spoke for peeta

"Peeta's mom hurt him" felt around around his stomach and said

"I think your ribs are broken and you have bruised lungs" he said
