Author's notes: That's right, I went shippy on you people. Shamelessly fluffy ship too. If you don't ship that way, well, you're out of luck because I do and I love me some Harry/Murphy fluff.

Harry liked to think of himself as a pretty intelligent, observant man. After all, he made a living as a private investigator and he was a wizard. He should have been able to notice subtle clues and details, whether in an old book or trying to find a missing person. Apparently he needed a refresher course because somewhere along the lines tonight he missed something very important because right now Murphy, Lieutenant Connie Murphy, was kissing him.
The night had started out like any other Friday night for him, that is, sitting around his apartment balancing his check book. Things changed though when Murphy showed up at his door and asked him if he wanted a beer. There was rarely a time when Harry didn't want a beer, so he grabbed his jacket and let Murphy drive to their usual spot.
They'd started drinking, Murphy telling funny stories about being in uniform and Harry about the sometimes strange people who showed up at his door. They laughed, teased and bantered like always. After sharing a plate of buffalo wings Murphy had paid, despite his protests that he could pay for his own drink. She'd driven him home and walked him to the door. He had expected their usual see yas and goodbyes but Murphy had other ideas. Ideas that, apparently, involved locking lips with him.
When she drew back she was blushing and Harry thought it was adorable. "Uh, well, I guess you know how to let a girl down easy Dresden."
"What?" He shook himself and took a step towards her, "No, Murph… Connie, I didn't not enjoy it." Murphy raised an eyebrow and Harry ran a hand through his hair nervously. Okay, so Murphy had kissed him and he had liked it a lot. Now he had to explain that and not manage to stick his foot in his mouth, which considering his earlier statement had already happened.
"Look, did I miss something tonight?" He asked, stuffing his hands in his pockets. He refused to nudge the ground with his foot like some high school kid. "I mean, you kissed me."
Murphy smirked, "Yeah, Dresden, I kissed you. I'm guess you missed all the flirting we did tonight."
"Uh…" Harry's mouth dropped open. Murphy had been flirting with him? And he missed it? Maybe Bob was right and he was an idiot when it came to women. Murphy was like other women though, Murphy could kick his ass with her pinky finger and a tic-tac and she had the best smile he'd ever seen.
Murphy laughed, really laughed, doubled over, bracing a hand on the door to stay upright laughed. Now it was Harry's turn to blush. "Jeeze, Murph, don't hurt yourself or anything."
When she straightened, she grabbed the front of his jacket in both hands and pulled him down to her level, "Harry Dresden, I am flirting with you. Got it?"
He smiled and took his hands out of his pockets to reach for her, "Okay."
"And I'm going to kiss you again. Still with me?"
He wrapped his arms around her shoulders and drew her close so there was barely a whisper between them, "Every step of the way, Murph."
"That's what I like to hear Dresden." She managed just before he kissed her.
