Hi, this is my first fanfiction written in English, so please be kind. It's a scene, which came to me one evening after watching SGA. Enjoy! Disclaimer: I don't own the characters but I do own the story, yeah! XD The Piano
"A fine, clinical player but no sense for the art!" His old piano teacher's words were repeading in his mind, and every time they sounded worse.
And now he was sitting here in front of this instrument and didn't know what to do. His fingers rested on the keys unable to push them. In his mind he knew how to play the song but his finges didn't.
The notes were building a melody in his head, but he was just sitting there starring at the keyboard.
"A fine, cleanical player, but no sense for the art!"
There was a time he belived this sentence has opened him the path to the life he has started after it. His life. The one he was made for. He was a scientist and his mind was consolidated on logic, made of it. There was no room for art and his teacher knew it, even before he began to think of it. And now he has found out that even science was some kind of an art, and once again he was fine and clinical, but he was no artis, no matter how much he wished to.
There would always be better people than him, as long as he wouldn't open his mind for arts and believes…as long as he wouldn't get wiser.
The first finger pushed a key and suddenly it overwhelmed him. He played the next note and the next, and so on. But this time something was wrong. The song he was playing sounded differend, even though he knew it was the song he wanted to play it touched him in another way then it had before. He lost himself in the sound of it, and it pleased him. The feelings it woke in him pleased him.
And when he was about to cry the song ended. The salty tears ran down his face.
Suddenly he heard someone claping his hands, and as he turned around he saw her standing at the doorway.
"I didn't expecte you to play the piano." She was mocking him; he could tell it by the way she smiled. But as she saw the look of his eyes that smile disappeared. For the first time she was able to see behind Rodney McKay's fasade. She moved slowly towards him, while he was starring at the keyboard again.
Her fingers passed through his hair, like a mother, comforting her child and he looked at her again and for a tiny moment they were about to kiss.
And than reality crushed down on them…and both became who they have away been.
McKay stood up and left her in the room without taking a final look at her. But he wasn't really leaving her, he was leaving the piano.
His teacher wasn't right, he thought. He just proofed that he was an artist. Maybe because, now, he found someone who believed he was…
The End
