"Shall we dance?"
"Excuse me?"
Sam stood up.
"If you don't want to, Kurt, it's totally fine. But I just thought… Your boyfriend is performing this really classic slow dance prom song and I've been wondering if you would like to dance to it… With me. Since he can't be at the moment with you."
You And Me by Lifehouse was probably the simplest and the most typical choice. Everyone liked this song, it was incredibly romantic and it worked with Blaine's voice really well. It felt like a dream already (especially that Kurt had an idea about who was Blaine thinking while singing it), and Sam's offer seemed extraordinary.
"Are you sure, Sam? Because you can get a lot of crap because of it."
Boy shrugged, like he was saying "who cares"?
"So? Before it ends, decision?"
Smaller boy stood up and Sam took his hand. When Kurt was following him to the dance floor, he couldn't help wondering if anyone pays attention to them. He wasn't sure if Blaine would mind – on the other hand, why would he? It was just a dance.
The fact that it was a dance with Sam didn't change anything, did it?
Both of them were afraid that it may turn out awkward, but it didn't. Sam held him close, but not too close, and it was a lot like dancing with Finn at the wedding few months ago. Somehow they managed not to get too romantic for them to feel uncomfortable in the crowd of extremely cuddly couples. Weird feeling of happiness fulfilled both of them and they couldn't help smiling.
"I guess it could have been much worse," said Sam softly, letting Kurt do a little spin. When he pulled him closer again, Kurt felt his heartbeat.
"You are doing very well," he assured the blond.
"I'm not used to dancing… And I guess it's visible in Glee club."
Kurt smiled, but didn't answer. It felt like they had a little moment here and he didn't want to ruin it by talking about silly things like that. It seemed like Sam felt similar way, but Kurt had no idea why would he… None of them spoke now – they just looked into each other eyes. No matter how cliché that would sound, for the moment it seemed like there was no Blaine, or their friends, or basically the whole school – only Sam and Kurt, just like in this silly song they were dancing too.
Kurt's heart started to beat a little faster, and he felt that Sam's wasn't any different. Something seemed wrong here, but he didn't want to think about it.
Song ended, and so did their dance, and they remained silent.
"Uh huh…Thank you." Kurt said finally. Sam nodded slightly and let the other boy go. New song started to play, out of stereo this time.
"Hey Sam! Thank you for taking care of my boyfriend."
Blaine appeared right next to them.
"I'm terribly sorry we didn't have this dance," boy said softly, looking right into Kurt's eyes. "I promise you, it's the last one I'll skip."
Kurt smiled. Sam suddenly started to feel uncomfortable, so he left couple as soon as he could. But on his way back to the table, he couldn't help turning back.
Just to notice that Kurt gave him a quick look too.

And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you.
