Imagine a mirror that could reveal your personality,
your fears,
your shame,
your struggles,
your darkest wishes.
Would you dare look?
To see your inner self unfold right before you.
To see you, but not you, staring straight in your eyes.
To see what you tried to hide all your life.
To see what others can't.
I would see my blame,
my worries,
my pain,
my guilt,
my family.
I would see the stress,
the concern,
the terror,
the calm.
the suspicion.
I would see the longing for acceptance,
for truth,
for praise,
for approval,
for freedom.
I would see my failure,
my obligation,
my waning strength,
my aching emotions,
my loneliness.
I would see my darkest wish.
My wish that I wasn't chosen.
My wish that I didn't have to carry the responsibility.
My wish that I didn't volunteer that one horrid day.
My wish… that I wasn't the leader.
So, tell me;
Imagine a mirror that could reveal your personality,
your fears,
your shame,
your struggles,
your darkest wishes.
… Would you dare look?
A/N
Inspired by a quote a friend told me a while back. I added onto it, though.
Man, this was a bit deep. I don't think I've ever written anything like this. Also, yes, I am aware that the certain turtle who is speaking in this fic is slightly OOC. I just always thought that he would get somewhat tired of his certain responsibilities after a while, especially with him constantly being questioned and pushed around. Hm.
So, my dear readers...
Would you look?
