Diamond in the Rough
The snow had been falling for the better part of three days which in itself wasn't anything special when you lived in Stockholm but this winter was different in all aspects due to the new companion I had gained this year.
Pamela was my child which was a term I still to this day was getting used to even after six months of us travelling city after city together, it was strange to have someone by my side after almost a thousand years of living alone and I still had to had to take a long glance at her every once in a while to remind myself that I wasn't hallucinating.
Because after all she was very real indeed and the constant clumsiness and bickering reminded me of that fact, I had told myself many years before that if I ever were to become a maker then I would have sired a boy just as Godric had chosen me. And now as this messy haired blonde female stood by my side I couldn't help but roll my eyes at the obvious hassle I was going to get myself into.
She showed me how difficult it truly was to raise a female vampire, there were makers who said that there was no difference in genders when it came to progenies but there certainly was.
I was never as stubborn or clumsy as Pamela and I certainly didn't disobey Godric's orders like she tended to do with mine, she liked to stray from my side and get into all sorts of trouble and had even challenged an older vampire to a fight which would have ended in disaster if I hadn't have been there to protect her. It was safe to say that she was going to keep my hands full for many years to come and that was both exciting and terrifying at the same time, she was going to blossom into a magnificent vampire if she lasted that long...
I stood at the window watching the snow fall from inside the warm home that I had rented out for the month, the fire in the bedroom crackled with the fresh wood that had been thrown in by the house maid. It was a perfect location and nothing would have made me happier than to stay here forever with my Pamela but business called, we would enjoy this temporary rest before disappearing in the wind.
"What are you doing?" the soft soothing voice of my petite blonde counterpart spoke in the silence
I turned with a warm smile to look at the pretty little woman who had her white robe firmly wrapped around her body, a curious glint in those big blue eyes as she searched my face.
"Watching the snow, come" I beckoned her over pleased that she was now awake
Young vampires needed vast amounts of sleep in order to function normally and Pamela was no exception, in fact I would probably class her as lazy.
She peered out of the window with a small smile as I wrapped my arm around her waist enjoying the company for once. There was no doubt that she got on my nerves most of the time with her lack of understanding of the dangers that lurked in the world of vampires but I adored her anyway, she was the number one prized possession that I didn't want to let go of and I was glad I decided to turn her.
Leaning down to her ear I smiled as she stilled
"Merry Christmas, älskling..."
