"I need your help."

Lexi frowns, glancing up from the paper she's been scribbling on. "My help? With what?"

"Well, it's just...there's this girl I really like, but I have no idea how to tell her."

Ah. Lexi rolls her eyes, although her stomach has a strange knot in it that wasn't there a moment ago. "Girl troubles. I see."

"I was thinking about trying chat up lines."

"Really? Chat up lines? You?"

"Yeah."

She raises an eyebrow. "You know you're just setting yourself for a fall, right?"

"That's why I was wondering...Can I try them on you?"

"Me? Why?"

"Because I need to see if they'd work! And who else would be willing to help me?"

"Who else would be stupid enough to help you, you mean?" She digs him playfully in the ribs. "Go on, then. Broaden my horizons with your amazing chat up lines."

"Alright." Tom takes a deep breath, and flicks to a scrawled-over page in his notebook. "Are you a parking ticket? Because you've got FINE written all over you."

"Ugh. Cheesy."

"Did the sun come up or did you just smile at me?"

"Hm. Better. But, not by much. Got any others?"

"Your eyes are bluer than the Atlantic ocean, and, baby, I'm lost at sea! Or, How does it feel to be the most beautiful girl in this place? Oh, oh, what about, It's a good thing that I have my library card. Why? Because I am totally checking you out!"

Lexi snorts. "Is this girl that you're trying to woo a library hermit?"

"Some might call her that."

"Hmm..."

"What?"

"I'm trying to figure out who this elusive girl of yours is."

"Oh, believe me. You'll never guess." They share a moment of silence, before Tom coughs. "Anyway, moving on, I've also got, Is your dad an art thief? Because you're a masterpiece. Oh, and, Did you just come out of the oven? Because you're hot."

"They are all awful," Lexi says firmly. "You need better class than that if you want to snag a girl with chat up lines."

"How about this one then?" Tom suddenly surprises her by taking her hand in his. "What are you doing for the rest of your life? Because I want to spend it with you."

Lexi looks down at their clasped hands, and then back up. "That's good. I like that one. You should say that one to this elusive potential girlfriend of yours." Her eyes drift back down to the floor, not wanting to look at him. Tom's finger under her chin brings her gaze up to his again.

"I just did."

Tom trying to flirt is adorably hilarious to my mind. (Although, everything he does is adorable...)
