:..Oneshot..:
I think I will always remember that sad look in his eyes, the forlon look on his face. His voice was so low and so soft from his regular voice that I almost missed his words.
"You don't have to go. It doesn't have to end this way."
I wanted so bad to agree with him then, but I knew he was wrong. It was over and I had no reason to stay here, not even he could keep me in this world. His amber eyes were shimmering with unshed tears that I knew the earth would never feel. I had promised to stand beside him once, for all of eternity. Yet, eternity is a long time to wait for someone to return your feelings.
The others were standing, hidden in the trees as they quietly watched the scene. They wouldn't stop me, even if they wanted to. He had been waiting for her to show up, just one last time when he stumbled upon me leaving. His face and eyes showed his surprise, and yet behind those eyes I could see something hidden.
"Kagome, you don't have to go....we can be together forever, now that Naraku is gone."
He's as foolish as ever, that's something that has never changed. I look up at him, I can see the shock in his eyes as they meet mine. He doesn't know what I am going to say, but he knows it is not what he wants to hear.
"Naraku wasn't the one that kept us apart, Inuyasha. It was and always has been Kikyo."
There, I said it. His sharp intake of breath told me I was correct in assuming it was something that he didn't want to hear. His amber eyes flashed as he reached out and grabbed my wrist, pulling me to his chest and looking down into my eyes.
"She means nothing to me Kagome! It's you that I love!"
The words that I have wanted to hear for so long, but they mean nothing to me now. The little boy standing in the bushes with silver hair, doggy ears, and sapphire/amber eyes is the testimony to his lie. The boy belongs to him and Kikyo, we all could see it easily. He denied it plently of times, but it was obvious enough, even to a young boy like Shippou.
"Maybe if you had said that earlier Inuyasha...maybe then I could have stayed..."
I whisper quietly before I pull away from him and walk towards the Goshinboku Tree. Standing beside the tree is another man with amber eyes, but his eyes are kind as he waits for me. As I reach him, he holds out his hand to me and pulls me close, watching as Inuyasha hits the ground in anger. The others slowly walk towards him, the little boy and Kikyo in their midst. They will always love me, even if they have to accept her to keep Inuyasha's friendship.
"Are you ready to go, love?"
His silky smooth voice whispers in my ear, a smile on my face. I turn towards him and nodd, our 'daughter' Rin behind his leg and his retainer beside her.
"Yes, let's go home..Sesshomaru."
Gwg: A short oneshot to get me into the Inuyasha mood! This is not well thought out so I don't expect it to be good, but please just review!
