A/N: Okay, here is my first one shot. I will be updating Expecting a Glow soon but this idea just came to my head and I had to write it. Please review and tell me what you thought.
I Will Never Forget
"Ouch!" Miles exclaimed as he tripped over another branch on the jungle floor. The Arabic man, (Sayid, was it?) turned his head to mutter something to the woman's (Katie?) ear.
"I'm beginning to think it was a bad idea for him to accompany us."
The woman smirked. It was obvious the Arab had wanted Miles to hear his quip and he sighed in frustration. This guy obviously didn't like him for some reason and to be honest, Miles didn't like him back much either.
"How much further to these...Barracks?"
The woman turned her head to look at him. "About another 15 minutes or so. Can you hang in that long?" Miles couldn't be bothered to dignify her sarcastic quip with an answer as he followed here into what seemed to be some sort of clearing. Suddenly the Arab stopped and the woman looked concerned.
"Sayid, are you okay?"
"I'll be fine Kate, just...give me a moment."
Kate stood back in line with Miles at the side of the clearing as Sayid entered the centre and bent down on his knees.
"What's he doing?"
"Just shut up for a moment." she whispered under her breath. Miles hoped she wasn't always this rude with new people. It looked like Sayid was in some sort of prayer. He wasn't bending down but his eyes were closed and he was muttering something. Miles felt awkward to say the least but wondered what had happened to makes Sayid act like this.
After a few minutes Sayid stood up. That's when Miles heard it. A voice. A woman's voice. She seemed to be trying to say something. Sayid and Kate began to head out the clearing, Kate putting a hand on Sayid's shoulder to console him somewhat, but Miles stayed put.
"Wait!"
The other two turned round. Sayid stepped forward a few steps.
"We must keep moving!" He sounded mildly upset but Miles wasn't gonna budge. Not until he ehard what this voice had to say.
"He's done this before." Kate called to Sayid. "He did it over Nao..."
"SHUT UP!...Shut up or I won't be able to hear." The other two watched as Miles bent to the ground and raised his hand, as if he was tuning into a radio station or something.
"Sayid, she wants to tell you something."
At this Sayid looked shocked and angry. "Don't you dare talk about her as if you knew her!"
"She says she's sorry. She's sorry for dragging you out here that day."
Sayid stepped forward slowly as the anger seemed to drain from his face. He kneeled down in front of Miles. "What else is she saying?"
Miles listened closer. "She says she's OK. She's OK...with you and Nadia."
Sayid began to look confused. "But...I'm not with her an..."
"She says you can forget about her." Miles looked up Sayid. Sayid put his hands on the sides of Miles face.l
"Tell her...tell her I will never forget about her. For as long as I live."
Kate looked on sympathetically as Miles shook his head. "She's gone." Sayid removed his hands and wiped his eyes as he stood up.
"We need to move." He walked away quickly as Kate shot Miles a weird look as she followed. Miles stood up and stretched himself out before quickly hurrying into the tree line to catch up.
