Lookies! I decided to write a poem too! ::sweatdrop:: I've always liked poetry, and I guess all the poem-fics have woken something akin to nostalgia?
Anyway, the poem will be in chapters. Lotsa chapters. And, unlike most of the poems I see here, which are about the characters, this will be about the story itself. I don't suppose any poetry-nuts are around to identify this as a ballad? I've… been planning to enter a traditional poetry contest, so I thought I might as well practice here… I've also taken the liberties to use a few semi-archaic words, so if anyone doesn't understand anything, or if I have been incorrect in any word usage, please tell me so, and I will explain/fix. ::smiles:: And… I'm not sure… I think the beginning verses are better than the later ones… Does anyone else think so, or is it just my unconfident imagination…?
Disclaimer: Tales of Symphonia doesn't belong to me. Boo hoo…
Warning: …None yet. For… behold the PROLOGUE! …AKA, the stuff in the instruction manual. ::sweatdrop::
----------
Prologue: So Speaketh the Legend…
A legend made, an epic born,
A myth transcending time,
A hero crowned; forgotten truths,
Lost 'tween the realms of rhyme.
A war thus fought of pride and fear;
The hero wept for peace.
Oh, giant tree, oh, source of life,
Thou witherest in thy grief.
The hero's life, a sacrifice,
A pure, untainted soul,
Was offered up, a martyr lamb;
The fatal death, he stole.
The tears flowed free, the goddess' pain;
In sorrow dreamt Martel:
A world, and still, her Mithos lived.
Surrendered; slumber fell.
The Chosen One, the angel's child,
Must journey far to seek
Salvation's hope; regenerate
The land of futures bleak.
This verdict old, by angels born,
Throughout the ages reigned.
Thus Chosen Ones, so bound by fate,
To e'er salvation chained.
Oh, Chosen One, prith hold thee strong;
Thy heart beats pure and true.
The world reborn must by thy hand
Its life and soul renew.
