Disclaimer: All of this belongs to J.K. What I have written is what I think happened to Remus Lupin on the night that he died fighting for what he believed in. But it all came from J.K.

Mr. R. J. Lupin
Remus Lupin was starring straight at Dolohov, but he wasn't looking at him. All he could se was his wife fighting a loosing battle against Bellatrix Lestrange. In slow motion he watched every curse fly past Tonks. Withy excruciating difficulty he looked back at Dolohov.
Cruel images raced through his mind. With each passing one he saw Tonks die in a different and slightly more heinous way each time. It took him all of his strength to focus back at his aggressor and not race over to his wife.
Each minute passed with agony. The sooner he could kill Dolohov, the sooner he could help his wife.
Remus sent curse after curse at Dolohov, but he never managed to get the upper hand.
He was silently screaming to himself to only think about the fight, but it was no use. How could he think of anything but his wife when she was in mortal peril? Nothing Remus could do would tear his mind away from his beloved Tonks.
He had half a mind to run over to Tonks and fight with her to protect her, but he knew that would be a fool hearty thing to do. Each time his mind slipped way from the fight, he narrowly avoided death
Remus was slipping up and he knew it. He could stop thinking about Tonks. Her face filled his mind, en-capturing him and luring him away.
From what seemed like miles away he could hear Dolohov scream "AVADA KEDAVARA!!", but he paid no attention to it. All he could do was try ad save Tonks, his beloved. But before his foot moved an inch from the ground, the spell hit him squarely in the chest.
He could hear Tonks scream his name and see her start to run towards him. He was screaming at her to forget about him and go finish off Bellatrix but no sound managed to escape his mouth. He was silently pleading with her not to die for him, but she would never share his thoughts.
Remus Lupin died with Tonks crying over his dead body. He died with her face clearly in front of his and her eternal love in his heart.
