Secret Love

Chapter 1:

"Who do you think you are James? Leave Lily alone! She obviously doesn't like you." I said as Lily, Jessica, and I bolted down the corridor to the Griffindor common room.

My name is Liz Barnett and I am in my 6th year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. My best friends are Jessica Cruiser, Courtney Bloom, Skylar Smith, and Lily Evans. We are called the Griffindor Golden Girls because of out great friendship. We've been best friends since first year. Skylar, Lily, and Courtney are all muggle born; however I was born in the United States and they are all from Britain.

Seven years ago, some deranged man killed my parents. My only living relative was here in England. When I moved here, my uncle, Travis Barnett, explained to me that I was a witch. He said that my mother and father had kept their gift a secret for my protection. I named my owl, Gavin, after my father. My father was a great man. He was a senator for the state of Virginia. My mother, Victoria, said that he would've made a wonderful president if he could've run for it. He wasn't born in the U.S. so he couldn't run. Uncle Travis said that he didn't go to Hogwarts like the rest of the family because of his behavior problems. He went to Durmstrang.

My boyfriend's name is Severus Snape. He is a Slytherin so no Griffindor may know about him. He is tall with greasy black hair. Most people think he a mean, cold-hearted person but he is one of the nicest people I know. They just don't know the other side to him. For some odd reason most people think he hates muggles and mudbloods. He doesn't. He has a compassionate side that no one knows about but me.

"So Liz, when are you going to talk to Remus again? He's been so depressed since you broke up. Why did you break up with him any ways?" Jessie said.

"He's a werewolf." I said.

"WHAT?!" Jessie and Lily said at the same time.

"James told me. That's why he isn't here certain nights. I just couldn't risk dating a werewolf. If I fell in love and we got married or something, I would have to deal with it every full moon." I explained.

"Whoa! Hold on a second. So where does he go when he transforms." Lily asked.

"He goes to the house in Hogsmeade that everyone says is haunted." I said. "Don't tell anyone that you know. Not even James, Lily. Remus doesn't even know that I know."

"So why does he think that you broke up with him?" Jessie said.

"I said that I thought that we needed to take some time apart. I was afraid that I would fall in love. I am in love with someone, but it isn't him." I said.

"Then who is it? Please don't tell me that it's James." Lily said.

"Of course not! He is in love with you Lily. Don't you see that?" I stalled.

Of course none of my friends could know about Severus. They would shun me. I would be kicked out of the Golden Girls. If anyone found out, I would be considered a traitor. I can hear it now, "She's dating Snape!" or "A Griffindor and a Slytherin!" I couldn't tell them, or anyone.

"Well obviously not. He plays pranks on me all the time." Lily said. "So if its not James then who is it?"

"You mustn't know. I shall not tell anyone until the time is right." I said and then I stormed off onto my room.
