This is just a Drabble, I just thought : What would happen if Sophie told Jem how she felt about him?

"Master Jem are you alright?"
Sophie peered into the room. He knelt on the floor, a clockwork angel in his hands. It was Ms Tessa's.
"I- yes Sophie I am-"
She entered the room slowly. She was truly alone with him. No one here to disturb them. Just her with her Jem. They had never been truly alone together. She walked slowly over to him. She knew her
scar made her unattractive, but Jem would understand, wouldn't he?
He looked up at her, confusion in his expression.
"Sophie? I said I was-"
"Shhh" she whispered, pressing her finger to his lips.
He looked up at her strangely. She pulled him upwards. He was truly beautiful, not at all like Will. He was all quiet and polite where Will was loud and rude to everyone.
"Sophie-"
"I care about you" she said softly. Jem looked shocked.
"Well-"
She leaned in and kissed his cheek, marvelling how soft the skin was on his cheek. Jem jerked away, an embarrassed expression on his face.
"I'm sorry Sophie but I don't ..ah.. Feel that way for you"
"Don't?" she whispered. All her dreams and fantasies tumbled down around her. In all her dreams Jem had never said no. Jem had said yes. Jem looked at her, pity in his eyes. Yes, he didn't love her.
Jem looked down at the angel in his hands. Sophie's eyes watched as he stroked it. Then it hit her.
It was Ms Tessa, he loved. Surely she should have known? It was clear, the way he smiled at Tessa. In all her years working here she had never seen him look at a girl like that. She thought that one
day, if he did fall in love, it would have been her. Not Tessa.
"Master Jem-I"
Jem looked past her to the door. A smile lit up his features. She turned around. It was Tessa. Her heart shattered.
