"Severus!" He ignored the angry shout that followed him as he bounded through the meadow as fast as his legs would carry. However, despite the head start, he could hear the heavy footfalls of his father hot on his heels.
He turned his head to look over his shoulder, but as soon as he did his foot caught an uneven patch propelling him face first into the tall grass. Dread immediately filled him as he waited for the rough, calloused hands of his father to pummel him.
He was surprised when a small voice asked, "Are you alright?"
