Cold Love

AN: This is a silly … thing. Nothing to be continued but just to throw the idea out there. :

It wasn't supposed to be like this.

She glanced away, spoon in hand, making sure that no one she knew was around.

Meeting up with him like a guilty convict.

"What's wrong? The pudding off?" his voice was like chaste velvet sliding over her, causing warm chills to go down her spine.

"No… it's great," She smiled, trying hard to resist this man that she desired so.

His golden eyes narrowed. "Well then, why are you glancing around like a guilty convict?"

"Well.. you see.. Meryl, and Vash would get mad if they knew.. that I was meeting you," she squeaked. She was never able to lie to him. She knew he could discern her more clearly than anyone else.

A contemptuous smirk graced his features, his hand reached out gently stroking hers. "Trust me I'd know if they bothered to come here."

His gaze captured hers, and suppressing the cold shudder, she glanced away again.

"Eat your pudding love," his mouth quirked, as she turned again to face him, tentatively dipping her spoon into her pudding.

"I'm still not sure why I'm here," she murmured, pulling her hand away from his grasp.

"Really? I thought you had come for the world famous pudding," his voice had gone predatory.

Going pink, she replied, "No, well yes, but … why are you here? Don't you hate me.. hate us? Hate humans?"

"Yes I do. but I rather like you."

"Why?" she thrust her spoon down into her pudding, her face snapping up to his. "Why are you doing this? Why are you here on my pudding expedition?"

He leaned back, sunlight glinting in his blue hair.

His eyes roved the people milling about, a look of disgust on his face at their happy faces.

"I have no idea why, actually. I could just kill you here, or hold you as a hostage." he leaned forward, elbows on the table. "but…" his golden eyes locked onto her blue eyes, the electricity flowing between them palpable. "I find I cannot."

She shut her eyes to his, how could she even care about this man.. this monster?

who was so devoted to some crazy psychopath… but every time she saw him her pulse sped up, her heart seemed to large for her chest.

Time stopped.

Sometimes rather literally.

The people around them had all frozen, as he stood up, she could feel his shadow across her features.

"Millie, I have to go… I'll contact you soon, when and where we shall meet."

his voice was soft, as if it was in her head.

She looked up at him.

A brief smile and he was gone, the people suddenly unfreezing around them.

Scraping the bottom of her pudding bowl, her thoughts were in turmoil.
