AN: This is my first fic so please review! It's about Fred and Hermione and a marriage law. I did not come up with the concept of a marriage law, but it had been circiling the web. Anyways I love you all and please enjoy this fic! PS: It will probably be maybe 12-21 chapters, and this one is shorter than the norm.
DISCLAIMER: I am sadly not the amazing JKR, nor do I pretend to be. I am simply an aspiring author who loves to read and borrow charactors.
It all started with a letter. One measly, 1 paragraph letter. A letter that changed the lives of everyone who read it.
It was two years after the war. Hermione was working at the ministry to help raise awareness about the care of house elves and other magical creatures. She was just about to write a paper on thestreals, when she saw a small brown owl swoop through the air.
"Remus! Come here!" she called to him. The owl stopped midair before coming to join his owner. It flew over and pecked Hermione's ear playfully.
"There you are! I was beginning to worry. What've you got for me today? Hmm. Bills, Bills, ooh a postcard from Neville... The daily prophet. And.. What's this Remus?"
The playful bird ignored her, and accidentally dipped his beak into Hermione's open jar of ink, making strange markings across her parchment. Hermione sighed. Her owl was not at all like his namesake. She flipped the foreign envelope over. Though there was no writing she recognized the red ministry seal immediately.
"This can't be good," she said to herself. She ripped it open and read quickly.
"Dear Hermione Jean Granger,
As you are aware, there were many unfortunate casualties of the war. If we don't do anything about it there may be a chance that the wizarding race will be wiped out. That is why we created The Marriage Law. If you are of age you will have to get married. A letter containing information about your future spouse will arrive on the 17th. We tried to put people who went to school with each other together. You must get married before the 31st of the upcoming month. You must have one child together, or be on the way of having a child together before the new year. That is all.
Warm regards, Your minister, Kingsley Shacklebolt."
Hermione stared at the letter in shock. Although nothing moved Hermione swore she saw the world collapse in front of her face.
AN: Did you like it? Hate it? Review please!
