Summary: The Doctor gets told off...
Excuse You?
He'd made one to many claims to having a superior evolution to draw on, he supposed as an irritated older woman cornered him, a single finger shaken under his nose as she corrected him. The worst part was, she was right.
"Less than five thousand year ago, humans in some parts of Earth were still hunting Mammoths with spears." She began. "I wasn't trying to draw in more air, you moron. I was slowing my breathing, not increasing it. I required less, not more because I wasn't moving at speed, anymore. It does take a moment or two to go from supplying oneself with large amounts of oxygen to just maintenence levels but at least I didn't need to grow an alternative method of breathing just to keep on breathing! Same goes for only having the one heart...humans evolved one that works just dandy by itself so we don't need a failsafe system! So much for that notion, hotshot." She spat, glared at him for a moment and then turned and stalked off without a backward glance. He was suddenly unsure about having her on the TARDIS with him and Rose but he'd already invited her...hell, she already had a room...
For some reason, he felt unreasonably pleased to be left in one piece. He was so relieved, he didn't even mind seeing Jackie headed in his direction, frowning. "What did you say to set my sister on a rant?"
Sister? Her parents bred twice?
"Someone gave you a sister?"
For the second time in five minutes he found himself in a corner with a wagging finger under his nose.
