All things familiar belong to the goddess, JK Rowling. Because Severus needs some love too.

Severus, who admired Lily Evans for the beautiful kind person she was, helping her explain to her family what exactly being a witch entailed.

Severus, who helped Lily cope with Petunia's frightfully jealous comments about Lily's magical abilities, assuring her that she would soon enter a world with people just like her, tactfully leaving out the pureblood prejudice that had tainted his family line for centuries.

Severus, who guided Lily through Diagon Alley, helping her buy spellbooks, patiently explaining to her the importance of a wand, and laughingly teaching her the difference between galleons and quarters, being a half blood himself.

Severus, who, from the moment he stepped onto the train, was taunted about his longing to be in the Slytherin house; rather, the fear of him not being sorted into Slytherin, and his abusive father waiting for what would be a not so fun summer before second year.

Severus, who, from the moment Lily got sorted into Gryffindor, felt immediately isolated from her, knowing deep down that a Gryffindor and Slytherin friendship could never last, forget even the slightly romantic feelings he had been harboring for her for ages.

Severus, who was bullied by the younger, more popular, and, he reluctantly admitted, exceedingly good-looking James Potter, who became his number one competition for Lily's affections; thankfully, Lily seemed to feel the same innate hatred towards the messy-haired boy as himself.

Severus, one dreadful fifth year day, one that Severus would regret for the rest of his life, getting bullied and turned upside down; Lily defending him, and in the heat of the moment, the disgusting word that he so wished hadn't uttered slipped out, ruining the hard-sought friendship that Severus had yearned for.

Severus, who dejectedly watched the girl of his dreams fall for his archenemy. Need I say more?

Severus, who, in his depression, decided to join Voldemort and his supporters as a result of peer pressure and the fact that he felt his life was hopeless anyway.

Severus, realizing that he had stepped in too deep into the murky ranks of the Death Eaters, depressed and not knowing what to do with himself.

Severus when he saw the shaken yet still face of Lily Potter, whose face once full of life, now lay there motionless; a complete contrast to the bubbly person she had been Severus pleading with Dumbledore to accept his wrongs and let him protect the Potters son, willing to put aside several decades worth of feuds with his archenemy to protect his wife's son.

Severus having to mask his inner turmoil at seeing James Potter and Lily Evans' son arrive at Hogwarts, having to maintain his dislike for the child to ensure Voldemort had his full trust. Severus protecting Harry through everything (like jinxes during Quidditch games), even though Harry's best friend sets his robes on fire during the process.

Severus dying for Harry, last looking into the eyes of the son of the woman whom he had loved so, hoping he had finally repaid a debt he had felt he owed for decades.
