Rainy Day
She ran.
For hours she was trailing him, following his path through the woods. And of course it had decided to start raining. The sky was now a dark grey and raindrops came pouring down from the sky and through the trees. There was a clearing up ahead she noticed as the trees began to thin out. With one glance she could tell during sunny days it would be a beautiful place to be at. But in the rain it looked dark and lonely. With out hesitation she walked into the clearing allowing the pouring rain to soak her. Her black hair was now plastered to her skull with the weight of the water. She saw him. He stood a few yards in front of her with his back turned to her. He turned to her and gave her a cold stare. Her heart felt like it had frozen over and her thoughts were in a panic but she continued to walk forward until they were almost touching.
"Why?" His voice questioned. He reached forward and lifted her chin up with his finger so their gazes would meet.
"I love you." She whispered. His gaze softened and the icy tone of his voice evaporated at her words.
"I love you as well." He said softly. She continued to stare up at him although his hand had left her face. Her eyes were overflowing with tears but it could have been just the rain. She reached out and embraced him.
"Then why?" She sobbed. He gently pulled back and reached out and gently caressed her face into his palm.
"Why what?" He asked of her gently. She raised her head to look into his sapphire blue eyes.
"Why do you say you love me but can never be with me? Why do you run away?" She said as she unsuccessfully choked back a sob. He smiled at her and he bent down and kissed her slowly. As they pulled away he said,
"How can you love me when you know what I am? How can you love me, a demon, a monster?" She reached out and hugged him again knowing that he needed the comfort too.
"I can love you because you have a heart. Even if you were born a demon as long as you can love and be a kind person I will love you." Even in the tense atmosphere he laughed quietly at her words.
"I am your worst nightmare but your most trustworthy friend." He whispered. She smiled at him and whispered,
"Exactly." Naruto picked Hinata up bridal style.
"Let's return, my love." He whispered as he walked back the way they came.
