The day that Clark invades her personal space and puts his face way too close to hers to be mistaken for platonic affection is the day that Tess knows they're both going to Hell.
But then, they are Luthors: Hell has always been a given.
"We'll get caught," She whispers, voice strangely high-pitched and pushing at his chest even though he can crush the bones in her arms like twigs if he wants. They fold against him, fingers brushing his shoulders as he just moves closer. His hands cup her elbows, and he gives her that look that sometimes (a lot of times) scares her because she has no idea what's going on in his head (and that can be a bad, bad thing).
"No we won't." He smiles the smile that's charmed many a lady and she thinks God, he's doing it to me too, this isn't right, I'm his sister-
No you're not. That traitorous little voice in her mind whispers.
Yes, I am.
No, you're not. He's adopted. You're not blood. No two-headed babies with webbed toes from you two.
She wants it, wants him so badly it hurts. He's the only one who loves her in this twisted mockery of a so-called family of theirs: Lex steps on anyone who gets in his way, Lucas is a certified sociopath and Lionel has been actively trying to pit each of his children against one another from their earliest years.
He leans in, tries to kiss her again, and she withdraws because if she does this, there's no going back. She'll fall under the same spell he's captivated plenty of others with, his beauty and selectively good temper drawing them in before they could see the poison beneath.
She resists because she knows what he is beneath the exterior he's been bred to show others, she knows his violence and his greed and his endless sins, but she has plenty of her own; lusting after a man who is legally (and morally, though that word was relative in the Luthor home) her brother being at the top of the list.
She's also not eager to know what Lionel will do if he finds out. And if Lex or Lucas finds out, they will tell him.
"What'll dad do if he finds out, sis?" He whispers into her hair, thumbs rubbing the crooks of her elbows. "Do you think I'd let him hurt you? I'd kill him first."
She knows she should be more alarmed at the very casual way he offers to murder their father, but instead she melts a little and leans towards him because he is the only one in the world who would make that offer. He is the only one who cares enough for her that he would kill for her.
"Love makes you weak," Lionel tells them, and it's true. At least, for her.
This time, she is the one who brings her face a little closer to his. He is visibly anticipatory, cautiously optimistic that she means to do it but won't be satisfied or secure until she does. Because she can still run, can still end this and walk out the door. She's considering doing that when he speaks again-
"I love you, Tess."
It's enough to make her want to sob with happiness.
She closes the distance and kisses him. He wastes no time devouring her, hands moving from elbows to waist and grabbing firmly but not painfully, pulling her closer and closer until she thinks that maybe he intends to swallow her whole.
Clark probably will.
Tess doesn't mind.
