Empty Well

Summary: Sam teaches Cas about computers before…you know…his end.

Disclaimer: Don't own them.

Sam heard the familiar chiming noise from the computer. This was the fifth time that they had to reset the computer. He couldn't see what Cas was doing the computer but he heard the Cas's grumbling quite a bit. Trying to teach Cas to use a computer was a slow progress but a needed one. Rationally, he knew Cas could pick it up. He did pick up the cellphone but it hit him like a ton of bricks when he fumbled with the computer. Cas is learning but he is probably frustrated by the whole thing.

"I do not see the purpose of this, Sam."

"You're human now, Cas. You need to learn about the computer. You learned about the cellphone, right?"

The typing stopped and he could hear grumbling again. He coughed a little bit into his hand.

"I could just ask you?."

"That isn't how it works, Cas."

If he turned around, he could probably see Cas

"I know but the cellphone is different," Cas said. He heard the annoyance in Cas's voice.

"I know that you have it in you."

He heard more grumbling and maybe some key smashing on the keyboard. Cas might destroy the computer…the human way before he is done.

"This is pointless."

"I am open to suggestions."

Cas slammed his fist on the table. This wasn't the first time that Cas hit things and probably won't be the last. It was almost funny that once upon a time, Cas rarely showed his feeling. Now, it was a different story. Everything was a different story now.

"I don't know," Castiel said softly.

A long silence fell between them. He heard the laptop's humming and Cas shifting it around as if he was trying to figure out. Probably, the computer if the loud beeping noises were anything to go by.

"Cas, it is better to wait for the computer to load up."

"I know…I know."

He couldn't help himself but he smiled.

"Sam…I am not sure why I have to do this. Kevin is highly skilled in this area and I am not."

"You know why."

He wanted to look over. He wanted to say something but….

He won't.

"Does Dean know?"

"I think so. I think that he figured out by now."

Cas sighed. He knew that Cas wanted to say more. Hell, he already said it.

"Sam…"

"You can't stop me now, you know."

"I know."

"I….I don't want to talk to Dean about this but I left a few things for both of you. He will probably say that I will make it but we know better, don't we?"

"Sam…."

"There is a chest. It is my third drawer in my room. It is under the panel. It has passwords, keys, and various…things."

"Sam…"

He didn't want to turn around. He didn't want to see Cas's face. God, he hated himself for asking Cas to do this. He shouldn't do this to a friend.

To carry on like this.

He bend his head and covered his face with his hands. He almost turned around. He almost saw….He could guess…

"It is okay, Sam."

"No, it is not…"

He coughed into his hand. He felt how raw and sore it was. He felt like that he has been coughing forever. He tasted the blood in his month Everything tasted like blood…everything just hurt.

He took a deep breath.

"It is only the basics really. Searching for information and cases. I won't throw hacking or anything like that. Don't worry. Kevin will be here to give you guys back up on that."

"I understand. I am sorry that I let my frustrations on you."

"It is okay, Cas. I understand. I have been using a computer for years and they still drive me nuts," He said as he tried to lighten the mood.

He felt Cas's hand on his shoulder.

He wanted to say something else but the words were gone. He was gone….he was just so tired. Soon, he could do that.

He could rest…and then Cas…Dean…the world would be safe and there would be some sort of peace. At least, on the hell side of things.

He almost laughed.

One day…it will be okay.

He hoped.

End.
