People always wonder what happened so many years ago, here in Chicago. Even those who were in the war don't remember. I have asked so many people and no one can remember a single thing that happened; everyone but the two Divergent. Choosing Dauntless was not my first thought. I have always thought that I would be Erudite, but after everything that happened, Erudite is almost completely emptied, and Dauntless is at is greatest capacity. Almost all of the Divergent choose Dauntless, and the few that don't choose to leave and go to another city. Not me. I am brave, I tell myself, I am brave.

"This is Four, and I am Six," the Dauntless leader says.

"Six? Like the number?" a girl snickers.

"Yes," the woman says, making the girl tilt her chin down and go silent.

"We will be your leaders while you go through initiation. Follow me while we show you where you will be staying," Four says leading us to a bedroom.

A small girls runs up and grabs Six by her leg before Four grabs her by the waist and flings her onto his shoulders in one easy motion. She slips off and runs toward us Initiates and grabs me by the leg.

"Hello!" she laughs.

"Hello," I say while lifting her up into my arms.

"What is your name?" she asks.

"I'm Raze," I smile.

"I'm Tia!" she says, running back to Four.

Tia has the same face as Six and the same body as Four. She looks a little bit odd with her tiny face, blonde hair, and ginormous body.

"This is my daughter, Tia. She will spend some time with us during initiation," Four says.

Six snatched her, "The way this works has changed over the years. When I was in initiation, only ten people out of all the transfers and dauntless born could become members, but now everyone has a chance to make it. If you choose to drop out, you become factionless."

I zone out and begin scoping out the other initiates. There are six of us, four boys and two girls. The tall boy, Knox, is Erudite born with light hair and tan skin. He seems to be the strongest person in the group. Next is an Abnegation born boy, Cody, with blonde hair and fair skin. The Candor boy, Axton, has the blackest hair and the hardest eyes. He's handsome, but seems like he hates the world. The last boy is a scrawny Amidity named Rory. His hair is bright red and his face is covered in freckles. He most likely won't do very well. The other girl is Candor, Nova, with short black hair and dark skin. She's very large and very muscular; someone meant to be Dauntless. And of course, there's me: Amidity born, light brown hair, and tan. I am not huge by any means, but I do have some muscle on my bones.

I've known since I was little that I was meant to be in Dauntless, but I had no idea that I would be Divergent. Now that we are accepted, it's not that big of deal, but to mean, it means that I am actually special for once.

Honestly though, I am only me.
