The Romanov Misfortune- A fanfic of the movie Anastasia by Aly A. Goodall.

"Ari, you have to go. You have to get out of here."

I ran down the hall, my mother behind me. "Go through there." she said, pointing to a door. I walked through the door. I looked back; my mother was closing it. "Mother! What are you doing?" I yelled, panicking. It was too dark to see anything; the little trace of light gave nothing away. Where was I? Suddenly, another door opened up. There was a flash of blinding light, and everything went black.

"ARI! WAKE UP!" Someone yelled in my ear, and I jumped.

"Huh...What happened?" I said groggily, slowly sitting up and scratching my head.

"What happened? Two seconds ago you were screaming your head off."

"Oh, ah, uhhm, sorry?" I said, trying to remember my dream.

"So, what upset you so?" Said a deeper, nastier voice.

It was Mrs. Beckhard, the owner of the orphanage that I had spent my whole life in.

"Nothing. Just a bad dream." My room mate, Kaciee, said hurriedly, coming to my defense.

"Ah, well, make sure it doesn't happen again. If it does, it's on both of your necks." She said with a sort of gnarled hiss as she walked out of the room.

"God, Ari, you're going to get me kicked out! Just because you're leaving in three days time doesn't mean that you can ruin my life. I still have to wait three years." Kaciee said angrily. I was still too tired to defend myself; I simply nodded. She let out a sigh of relief. Kaciee was the type of person that tried to suck up to people to get what she wanted. She was, when it came down to facts, a complete bitch. I got dressed, putting on the same outfit I had had for years now. Today was my last day of work; starting tomorrow, Kaciee would be forced to take over my chores. Tomorrow was my day when I got paid, paid so I could go and start a new life elsewhere. I would have that day to go in town for the first time. Then, the day after I would leave for good. Once I left I was on my own for good. I was excited, but I was scared all the same.

"ARI GET YOUR LAZY ASS DOWN HERE!" Shouted Mrs. Beckhard. Sigh, I was late for work again. "Coming, !" I half shouted, but it wasn't loud enough for her to here. I grabbed my most prized possession; A necklace with a silver chain and an aqua-blue stone. On the back of the stone were several words. As I looked at the stone, I heard 's shout again and quickly put it around my neck before running down the stairs.
