When I was eleven a little before I went to fifth grade, I had dreamt about Schmendrick having a nightmare of some sort. This one's dedicated to The Mouse Avenger, who I had currently talked to and who gave me a thoughtful review on my parody of The Last Unicorn, The Last Bat.

It had been over a month since Schmendrick the Magician had helped the last unicorn find the other unicorns, but he couldn't have done it without his other friend, Molly Grue.

A month later, in the cottage, where he and Molly live, Schmendrick was having a nightmare about himself transforming the unicorn into a human lady, whom he referred to as the Lady Amalthea. He knew it was the only way that the Red Bull wouldn't take her like he did with the other unicorns, but sadly, Schmendrick just couldn't get over it. Just when he could no longer bear the night terror, he awoke, gasping for air.

"Schmendrick?" a concerned voice spoke. It was from Molly Grue.

"Molly?" Schmendrick said as he sat up.

"What's wrong?"

"Molly," Schmendrick started sadly, "I had a nightmare about…"

"About what?" Molly urged.

"It w-was about," Schmendrick stammered, "Myself changing the unicorn into a human."

"Oh, Schmendrick, you're a true wizard, remember?" Molly assured him, caressing him with one arm.

"Yes, but my head has been spinning over this nightmare for so long."

"Well, you could've told me," Molly said with a cock-eyed stare.

"Well, you'd probably keep assuming that 'I'm a true wizard' and all that," Schmendrick reminded her.

"Oh," Molly remembered.

Suddenly, the unicorn, who happened to spend the night. She let her forest friends know that. Molly and Schmendrick gasped in surprise at her awakening.

"Well, I thought you'd never wake up," Schmendrick said.

"I may be mortal, but I promised myself that I will see you and Molly," said the unicorn, "And come straight to your aid when you're in trouble."

"I had a nightmare about you tonight about your human transformation," Schmendrick told her.

"Oh, dear," the unicorn sympathized, "I do remember that, but it helped me experience regret unlike other unicorns in the world and that I am half mortal."

"And you came back," Molly said with a smile and hugged the unicorn. The unicorn nuzzled her.

"So, what now?" Schmendrick asked, breaking their happy reunion.

Molly let go of the unicorn. "Well, there is only one thing I can do, magician," the unicorn replied.

"And what is that?" asked Schmendrick.

"I will tell you this to refresh your memory: You got your true magic again when you changed me back into my true self again."

"Oh, yes, thanks for your help," the magician nodded.

"You may as well be getting your rest," the unicorn returned, "You'll be a true magician by morning with a full night's rest."

"Indeed," Molly agreed.

Schmendrick yawned. "Thanks again."

"It's been my pleasure," the unicorn affirmed, "But I will stay here with you tonight."

"What do you say, Schmendrick?" Molly asked.

"Wonderful," he answered and yawned again. "Goodnight." And so, he drifted off to sleep, but this time, no nightmares plagued his slumber.
