Whiskey
Some stories are good with a cup of tea—love stories with double weddings and happy endings. The ones that make you feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. This isn't that kind of story. This is about revenge and betrayal, blood and death. This is a whiskey story.
A century ago the Palumpolum District was a prosperous section of the City of Cocoon. It was run by Est-Corp, a distinguished family-owned company that was the leader in modern technology. Then, as the Committee Board was having a quiet, Christmas Eve dinner party at the President's family home in Palumpolum, the entire Board and their families were assassinated. Blood was said to have covered the crisp snow for miles and it had taken three hours for city officials to respond to the fire that had overtaken house. By Christmas morning all of Palumpolum had been burnt to ash. The night had become known as Bloody Christmas in Palumpolum and to this day no one celebrates that night or alights a single candle.
As for Est-Corp, with no one to lead it and over half of its employees either injured or deceased due to the fires of Bloody Christmas, the company fell apart and its inventions overtaken by other companies, namely Villiers, Inc., a small, up-in-coming company at the time. No one questioned the rapid growth of Villiers, Inc. over the following decades or how the company quickly took over nearly all the profitable markets in the city.
Nor did anyone notice the small boy fleeing from the fires that night.
AN: So I've started something new… For those of you who've been wanting chapters for one of my other stories: I'M SO SORRY! It's been forever, but I still want to finish them! I really do! It's just that this past year has been eventful to say the least & I haven't had the time to write. However, I don't have Uni until February & I'm determined to write nearly every day of this month-though that doesn't mean I'll post every day. I'm hoping that if I get in the habit of writing again that I'll be able to finish those stories as well.
In terms of Whiskey, I don't entirely know where this is going just yet, but it should be gritty for sure.
