Fry, Leila, and Bender were all sitting around their living room when Dr. Zoidberg came in; tentacles squirming as always.
"Hello there everybody what are we doing today on this fine day that my people just don't seem to appreciate on my home planet," he said in one long breath.
"Nothing really, Dr. Zoidberg," Fry answered while lounging with his belly hanging out like normal.
"Yeah, ya crustacean, nothing!" Bender, the snappy and snarky robot put in.
"Don't listen to them," Leila, the sensible one, said in a motherly like tone. "Fry just applied for his fifth credit card."
"And what's wrong with that?" Fry exclaimed defensively.
"Are all you 21st century-ers that dense?" Bender asked, furrowing his non-existent eyebrows.
"Yes, I would have to agree with the robot," Dr. Zoidberg nodded.
"You're all just jealous that I'm able to pay for things online while you have to deal with writing out checks and keeping Robot-money in your pockets," Fry taunted, crossing his arms and slouching down lower in his seat.
"Fry, that's not it at all. You haven't paid off 100% of your previous payments and you're deeply in debt from your other cards," Leila scolded. "You have to take care of your past before you can go on with getting another card."
"Debt schmet, I can deal with that later."
"She has a point, Fry!" Bender added. "I was trying to get a loan from the Robot-bank the other day so that I could get a new upgrade, you know, since I'm a robot and all."
"We know, Bender," Leila said blandly. "You were saying?"
Bender cleared his Robot-throat and continued on. "Anyways, when I went to get the loan they wouldn't give it to me! All because of my bad credit history."
Fry looked a little uneasy. "Bad credit history? How did you get a bad credit history? What could a robot do to damage his credit history?"
"Are you kidding me?" Bender yelled in surprise. "I swiped that thing so much it wore a hole in the plastic! Then when I finally was able to pay off all my debts the banks deemed me as 'untrustworthy'. Now whenever I try to get a loan or apply for a job I have to try and work around the bad credit."
"Wow, I never thought about it that way," Fry mumbled.
"Not that everything about a credit card is bad you know," Dr. Zoidberg cut in. "On my planet everyone has a credit card. We use it instead of carrying the money around."
"I suppose it's hard to collect change with claws for hands," Fry stated. A brief silence followed his comment.
With a wiggle of his tentacles Dr. Zoidberg went on with his story. "Once, my brothers-sisters-mother-in-laws-friends-stylist got his wallet stolen. He called the bank and got it cancelled right away."
"That was smart of him," Leila remarked.
"Not really," Dr. Zoidberg said.
"Why do you say that?" Leila questioned him.
"Because he cancelled his field-workers-license too, now he can't research the humans who crawl around our beaches."
She shrugged her shoulders and looked back at Fry. "So, whaddya say? Are you going to get you're act in line before you get any more cards?"
Bender, Leila, and Dr. Zoidberg all looked at Fry expectantly. He sat up and drew in a long, deep breath. "Of course I will. Right after this nap." He laid back down and fell asleep instantly.
