The bell roared and kids came rushing through the doors like there was some kind of rabid animal chasing them. Freedom had finally arrived at Smallville High. Inside the deserted hallways, there beat only two teenaged hearts. One, Lana Lang, was at her locker. Her face showed apathy and she was indifferent to the emptiness of the hall. Clark Kent walked up behind her. She turned and jumped, being startled by his quick appearance. "We have to stop running into each other like this." Clark joked. "You scared me, Mr. Kent. You know, you can be pretty shocking sometimes. I think I like it." Lana smirked. Clark mimicked the expression back to her and they kissed, ignoring the ringing of the bells every five minutes.
After the second ring, they decided they would go out to eat. It was a Friday; no cram sessions tonight! They had breakfast at a nice little diner across the street. They gobbled it up, but took their time while laughing and talking. After that, the couple headed on over to the arcade. Clark got his ass kicked at pinball! They didn't leave until 7 pm.
Lana got home at 7:30. Clark stood at the door. Lana stepped inside and threw down the keys.
"You can come in." Lana said. He stepped in slowly. They sat on the couch making out. His hands ran up her thigh and she sighed a little. A car's engine revved outside. "Oh, shit!" Lana screamed as she broke the kiss. "Uh...bye, Lana! See you tomorrow!" Clark got up nervously and ran home.
At a quarter to 8, Lana's family ate dinner, but she hadn't smiled since Clark left. She went up to her room without saying a word.
