Everyone has a bad day sometimes. This was written on one of mine. Leave feedback of you like.

Disclaimer: I don't own Teen Titans or the song Stricken...only in my dreams

It hurt. Every word he said cut through her like a knife. The grimace on his face told her that he hadn't meant to utter the words, but they hung between them like a curtain. She knew that they were all true. She had messed up in battle. She had allowed her demon side to rein for a few moments. She had become evil, but to have Beastboy actually tell her he was scared of her hurt more than she usually allowed herself to acknowledge. Instead of crying or doing any of the other things that girls like Starfire would do in the face of a deep emotional pain, she threw the green teen across the room in a whirl of dark magic.

Anger was safe.

Anger was easier than dealing with these emotions that were threatening to bubble to the surface and expose her for who she really was.

She wanted to feel safe, just like anyone else, but even that simple request seemed to be denied her. Raven hated feeling weak and she hated to allow her emotions to get the better of her, but there was only so much even she could and would take before she had to take action.

Anger was the only way to let out the pent emotions that could ultimately destroy her.

Robin had once told her to visit a psychiatrist, but she promptly threw him into the ocean with her powers for even suggesting that she, the daughter of Trigon the Terrible, could be help by a human with a piece of paper hung on his wall.

Maybe she was a little emotionally unstable, but with all of the slurs and harsh words thrown her way day after day, who wouldn't break after a time. Raven knew that they should consider themselves lucky that she hadn't completely destroyed the world for all the times that they had hurt her and made her feel unwanted.

She had told them time and again that she was different, and that they should simply deal with that fact and leave her alone, but no, they had to continue to bring up the differences between her and the rest of the world.

Couldn't they see that they were driving her to something much more dangerous that simply drink or drugs? They were driving her to break down her wall that existed between her and the emotions that could destroy them all.

How she wished she could just make them shut up and listen to her. The only relief she had was to allow her anger to take control for a few minutes - to show them how powerful her emotions could be.

Finally she stopped and looked about the tower. The ripped curtains and the cotton batting spewing from the mauled sofa caught her attention immediately, but after a moment she saw the shocked and repulsed faces of her teammates. The horror was evident on their faces, but it was the fear that hurt her the most.

"Next time, listen to me. We could be spared so much pain." Raven told them. Suddenly she returned to her normal form and turned from them whispering, "Leave me alone. Let me be this time."

The next morning the Titans found Raven lying in a pool of blood in her room; her mirror was broken and a few bloodied shards were lying beside her. The note on her bed told them all they needed to know:

When the heart is cold, there's no hope. And we know that I am crippled by all that you've done. Into the abyss will I run.

Yeah, this is what happens when you turn a bad day into a semi-productive one. At least I got a story out of it.
