A long haired, tanned, hippy Andrew was unaware that his life would be in danger on that warm sunny day in Brussels. Accompanied by his best friend in all
of Luxembourg, Catherine, Andrew set out on a downtown adventure. The sun beat down on his face, it wasn't too warm or too cold, it was one of those
nice perfect days that must be ruined at all costs by something unexpected.
Down the road he strolled, carefree, with one of his best friends. Idle banter passed between the two. "So, the weather's nice isn't it?" One would begin,
"Yes, it is, perfect weather to be tanning." the other would respond,
"Only if you don't get burned," they talked about nothing, anything to stave the silence away, just something to pass the time.
It wasn't long before they passed before a tall building, a monument of sorts. "Weird building, eh?" Andrew had never seen such a sight before. A building in
the shape of an atom was being repaired in downtown Brussels, why, Andrew didn't know, but he assumed it was for some sort of festival, and if not that,
then at least it was a tourist attraction
Suddenly a sound, like the crash of Thor's hammer, rung out in the streets. The heads of passers by snapped towards the deafening sound. The two students
looked up above them at where the sound had come from. What they saw was terrifying, a window was careening towards the ground, towards them.
A Shrill cry escaped Catherine's mouth as the pane came crashing to the earth. "Holy Shit!" Andrew yelled, The window landed a few feet from where
Andrew and Catherine were now standing, if they had stopped a second earlier or if the window had fell a little earlier, then they would have been killed.
Luckily for them, death's stop watch was running a little late that day. "It didn't shatter?" Catherine was terrified but confused,
"Plastic?" Andrew's heart was pounding, but he had enough wits around him to guess that the window was not made of glass as soon as the pane had
touched the ground and didn't disintegrate into a deadly cloud of glass dust.
Hearts pounding, eyes wide, the two students had almost lost their lives, but instead of ruining their day, they now had gained an interesting story to tell, and
they came away more grateful for the life they had. Somewhere, an evil imp was cursing his bad luck, not only did he not ruin Andrew's nice day, but he didn't
get two more souls to add to his monthly quota.
