A/N: yeah, I know. It sucks. Please don't flame me. I might make it better later. Woo.

He heard a sickening thud. "Ron!" he thought immediately. Where was he? He couldn't lose his best friend now, he couldn't...
What do you say in a moment like this,
The corridor ended suddenly. Harry looked into the room it poured into. A green light still hovered in the air. A pile of robes were bunched on one side. On the other lay his best friend, face down on the hard ground, and surrounded in blood. "Ron." He whispered. He rushed over to him. "Ron, wake up! Ron..." gently, he turned the body over. His heart was filled with dread.
When you can't find the words,
Suddenly, the blue eyes flickered open, but the spark was gone. These weren't the eyes of his friend. They were hollow and unseeing. "Harry?" A frail voice asked. For an instant, he was filled with something he hadn't felt since the castle was attacked--hope. "Harry, I'm sorry. I didn't think. I rushed into things. Didn't have enough strength. I guess it's too late to fix that now."
To tell it like it is,
Harry looked down at his friend. The eyes were closing. "No, Ron, please," he said. Tears slipped down his cheeks. "Ron, you can't die. This isn't how it's supposed to end. You have to be okay. Come on! The hero never dies!" he took a shaky breath and went on. "Please, Ron, we need you. Your family, Hogwarts, Hermione.... I need you," he pleaded. "You're my best friend, Ron. We've been through so much. I can't even think of living and knowing you aren't. I can't spend another day with the Dursleys without knowing that at the end of the summer I won't step onto the platform and see your smiling face."
Just close your eyes and let your heart lead the way,
Ron looked up at him and smiled. It was weak, and didn't show his usual spice for life. "There, I smiled for you. And you can be sure that from now on, wherever I am, I'll smile every day for you. And you're right, Harry. The hero lives. You make the most of your life. I'll be as good as alive, protecting you. I'm sorry I failed. You get to be the hero now." "No, Ron," Harry said as the realization of the situation sank in, "You won. You killed him. You're the hero, and you need to live. I can't lose you." Dread filled his body and swallowed him. "You won't ever lose me. I'll always be in your heart, as you will be in mine. Now smile, and be brave." Ron's eyes closed for the last time.
Oh, What do you say....
"No," Harry whispered. Then he remembered Ron's words and forced himself to smile. Ron was right. He had to be strong, if not for himself, then for his best friend. He turned and walked away.
