Disclaimer: I do not own The Secret Saturdays, and I never will.
He climbed into the stone basin, steeling himself for the billionth time that night. "Kur's gonna take a hike, then life will be back to normal," The Flute of Gilgamesh rose up in the air. Bright yellow light shot out into the night air and consumed him. "Right?"
In an instant, Zak wasn't there anymore.
When he opened his eyes again, he saw a blank void. Weightlessly, he drifted through, like a balloon rising up into the sky. It felt so good. A millisecond after that, something broke the silence.
"No. I'm not going. I've never wanted to go, and I'm staying right here." it said boldly.
"Not something," Zak thought, "Someone!" That someone was an exact double image of him; standing before some sort of yellow energy creature. Same black and white spikes, same mixed color if his skin, and even the same defiant spark in his eyes.
Floating Zak become curious of Not Zak; if that was him, then who was he? Why was he so alien, and yet so familiar? Staying away wasn't going to answer those, so he lightly tapped Not Zak on the shoulder. Bad idea.
A jolt of pain and emotion crackled at his fingertips. Memories came back to him at full force, along with an aching head. He recalled the minute he discovered his powers, all the way back in Fiji…The wave of relief after he saved Dad from Zon…How easily he could control the Groot Slang…The overload nearly brought tears to his eyes. "All those things, are because of Kur? Me?"
Not Zak got him out of it. "I said NO!" The image of him took out his own Claw and began attacking his enemy. Since said enemy was cloud of yellow energy, it was almost funny.
Except when the energy started fighting back. It clutched (somehow) at Not Zak's legs and proceeded to drag him away. Almost on instinct, Floating Zak grabbed his other self's hands. "He doesn't want to go. Why is it making him?" he wondered.
Then, there was pain. Blinding, brilliant pain. He dug his feet into the non-existent ground and braced himself. The memories escalated. Antarctica was so cold; it was almost a relief to be inside the goliath. There was so much power in that cryptid; he just needed the right way to tap into it.
He blinked once. Nagas began coming at him from all sides while neither Zak could do a thing about it. They were…Holding him down? Another recollection; To see with his power was second nature, and to seal the Ahuizotl was cake; Zak just wishes he could've asked Fisk to help. The massive tug-of-war was slowing down.
He blinked a second time. Secret Scientists joined the fight, grabbing onto the Nagas, who were stretched thin. "Am I really that high up?" Zak couldn't turn around to check. Not Zak was looking less and worried; the dragging had stopped.
"We're saving our boy!" Someone shouted. The unlikely allies heaved, and the energy loosened its grip. The energy disappeared, not to be seen again. The group collapsed in on itself, my family at the center, holding onto Zak like their lives depended on it.
In an instant, Zak wasn't there anymore.
When he opened his eyes again, he felt weight, just lying there on the stone ground. It felt so good.
