Bury Me In Satin

If I die young
Bury me in satin
Lay me down
On a bed of roses
Sink me in the river
At dawn
Send me away
With the words
Of a love song

- If I Die Young, The Band Perry

"Hey George," a young red headed man asked. "What do you think'll happen if we die?" His companion laid back on the shore of the river and looked thoughtful.

"Who says we're gonna die?" George asked, turning his blue eyes to the boy who looked just like him. His twin grinned at him.

"Humor me," George frowned and rolled over onto his stomach.

"If we die," he said slowly. "We'll die old and surrounded by our kids."

"You sound sure of yourself." the other red head laughed, smiling at him. George smirked.

"You're one to talk, Fred." He playfully splashed the warm water at his brother. Fred laughed again, raising a hand to block the moisture.

"If I die," Fred said, laying on his back and lacing his fingers behind his head. "I wanna go out like Uncle Fabian and Uncle Prewett." George blinked.

"Really?" Fred narrowed his eyes.

"There's nothing better than going out with pride," he declared, relaxing. "Now that we're fighting for something, we've got pride to uphold."

"We've always had pride." George commented, looking at his twin. Fred grinned.

"Got that right. The Weasley's are the proudest bloodtraitors ever!"

There was silence for a long time. George moved closer until his head brushed Fred's.

"We'll die together, right?" he asked quietly. Fred laughed.

"Of course! We're twins aren't we! It'll be a family tradition." he said firmly.

"What'll our funeral be like?" George asked, ideas of fireworks and funeral pyres running through his head.

"Something unexpected." George looked at his twin with surprise. "It'll be quiet, totally different from us. They'll bury us in satin!"

"Lay us in a bed of roses!" George laughed.

"Send us off in this river!" Fred shouted, sitting up and throwing his arms into the air.

"At dawn!" George yelled, copying Fred.

"With a love song playing!" they shouted together, climbing to their feet and running down the shore, laughter and shouts chasing after them.

Funny when you're dead how people start listening.

Drops of rain fell down from the sky, as if it were crying the way George couldn't bring himself to do. He watched the boat float away, red roses and green satin framing his dead brother's figure. He couldn't remember how long he stood there and watched the image fade away. The clouds rolled away, revealing the pink and golden dawn.

He gave a hollow laugh.

"You were right, Freddie," he croaked. "We did die together. Wait for me, okay?" He swiped the tears away and continued on.
