I sat up in the high tree that seemed as much my friend as any of the staff at the Takahashi estate.
I had sat in this tree for every large affair the family had.
There was Inutaisho, the father and husband of the family. His hearty laugh bounced everywhere. he was founder and now part time CEO of Takahashi was a kind man, and he was never cross towards me, accept when I once swung a bat too close to one of the many cars.
Izayoi , mother, second wife, she was a lovely woman, she did many social callings for the company. She was really the only truly social butterfly of the family, and she had many different laughs for every occasion.
Then there was Sesshomaru. The eldest son from Mr. Inutaisho first marriage. He is the heir and is already in charge of most things to do with the company. He was responsible and very stoic. To be truthful I felt a bit of fear when I saw the elder brother. He was always so serious and his eyes tended to burn into your soul if he caught you doing something time I climbed too far up another tree on the property and I fell. Sesshomaru just happened to be walking by and caught me. After he set my feet on the ground he burned a hole into my eyes he said that if I had hit the ground I would have died. Back then I thought he said it to scare me but now I see that he was completely right.
then there was the youngest son, Inu Yasha. He had a lovely mate named Kagome. She was a very ferosious little spit fire. At least thats what my Dad called her. He went about the party making guests giggle and making inappropriate jokes.
Then there was Kohaku, their cousin on Izayoi's side, he was human, and came from a long line of demon hunters, he was the perfect man. he was kind and tall and lovely. he lived with the Takahashi's because his parents passed away when he was twelve. he is twenty-seven now. he is a bit of a playboy and there is no shortage of women who want to be on his arm and wrapped around his every word. He was to enherit the same amount as Inuyasha which was more than enough to live abundantly and extravigantly.
He never noticed me, but sometimes wish it were me he were trying to woe. The way he would lean in and whisper in other girls ears. The same seductive way he puts his hand at the curve of their backs before he leads them into a waltz where their bodies are pushed up tight against each other and they are breathing the same air. I want that so bad. Having Kohaku so close.
I let out a sigh and began to climb down the sturdy old tree and mope over to my small apartment above the garage with my father who tends the cars.
