It was a long time ago. Before Gunter retired from combat. When he was still in the army.
Breezy night. In the forest of the border of Shin Makoku. Where the army of Mazoku camped. Which was their current fort. Conrad was patrolling to make things sure. There's where he met Gunter under a tree. The man was resting while drinking some water.
"Here!" Gunter threw a bottle of water to his apprentice. Conrad caught the bottle. He drank a bit before sitting down besides Gunter, facing the river. "I wonder….," Conrad spoke out. Gunter turned around to him. "I wonder when is this battle going to end," he mentioned. Gunter was still staring at the young prodigy.
"Yes. I was thinking about that too," the pale haired man stared at the river. "I knew it is an honourable thing to protect our kingdom. But, war isn't going to solve everything," replied Conrad. Gunter nodded. No respond.
Then, Gunter found Conrad was staring at him. He also looked at the other. Soon, their eyes contacted. Both were drawn to each other's orbs. Warm smiles were carved on their lips. Eyes closed. Conrad's head approached towards Gunter and so did the other man. Expecting their lips to touch.
Suddenly, "YOUR EXCELLENCIES! We've found out that the enemies are approaching this way. Based on our calculations, they might arrive as the dawn breaks," reported one of the soldiers. Conrad and Gunter pulled back. Their cheeks were bright red. They separated to lead their groups.
To make things shorter, they were on the battlefield. Conrad and Gunter's division were set to be in different places. So they couldn't see each other for that very moment. As Conrad unsheathed his sword, the battle between life and death began.
Fortunately, they survived but not expecting to see each other again. Sadness could be seen in their eyes even though the victory was theirs. The proof how strong was their feelings to each other.
On the way back, they went to their fort to take some rest. Things were back to normal. Conrad's troop got there later than Gunter's. As Conrad approached towards the tree they met last, he saw someone he knows really well. Shines are back in his eyes. He then rushed towards the tree.
Gunter was surprised "Conrart…..," he also got the shines in his eyes back. They were very happy to be able to see each other again. Before Conrad could even sit down, Gunter stood up and hugged him tightly. Conrad waited no longer to claim the other's lips. It was a long, deep, passionate kiss.
As Conrad pulled himself back for a while, he confessed his feeling towards Gunter. The words that Gunter always wanted to hear from his mouth. "I love you, Gunter," said Conrad. Gunter replied back "I love you too, Conrart,"
Then they continued to kiss, under the tree.
