"Oops! I broke my resolution twice in a row! Tee hee!" Excellus giggled like a demented schoolgirl, but before Say'ri could even reach for her blade there was a bright flash of light and a swirling mystical glyph... that left the fat worm standing exactly where he had been a moment before.
"What?" He squealed, backing away desperately. "What is this? Why am I still-"
"Fufufu..." a soft, dark chuckle cut through his panicked words as a shadow detached itself from a large man in heavy armour that had, somehow, been overlooked the whole time. "Ever since you appeared here, you have been snared within my curse... all it took was your name, and you were mine..." Tharja purred as she placed one foot in front of the other, stalking towards her prey, then prowling around behind him in a circle.
"This is impossible! My magic... my schemes! They are perfect!" Excellus argued.
"Perhaps your treachery is an immovable object, Excellus..." Say'ri spat, advancing on him only to be brought up short by a small arm blocking her approach. She paused, looking down at Darla, the Shepherd's diminutive, lilac-haired tactician.
"... but I have had dear Tharja maintain a teleportation snare around our battlefields ever since we dealt with Gangrel." Darla finished. "My strategy... may not be an unstoppable force, but when an object cannot be moved... simply cut out its support." She smiled at the sorceress, who practically glowed with satisfaction. "Now... Excellus. What a pretentious moniker..." Darla moved her smile to the fat tactician.
"We should leave them to it." Chrom whispered, tugging Say'ri away gently by the arm as the tactician and the sorceress went to work. "Kellam. Watch over them, but do not watch." He ordered the knight before Say'ri could protest.
"But I must-" Say'ri objected.
"Watch them?" Chrom asked, softly."No, Say'ri." As he shook his head, Excellus' high pitched scream rang out. "Darla is a good friend and a boon companion, but I have learned that there are some things you just don't ask about..." he shivered as the next scream was an even higher pitch, and even the proud swordswoman of Chon'sin winced at the implications behind them.
"... perhaps you are right." She allowed Chrom to continue leading her away.
