Hi! This is a completely and utterly random fic I wrote last summer when I was waiting for my knee surgery. I know normal teenagers don't read Dark Tower books, but I'm not exactly a normal teenager! Stephen King really helps pass the time. Tell me if I did good or not. I know I did weird...

"Aww! Com'ere, little guy!" Eddie whipped around and shouted in horror.

"What the heck are you doing?!" He grabbed one of Roland's guns before the gunslinger could protest. He was too busy playing Animal Crossing on the DS he found in Walter's pocket (back when he took his jawbone, you know.) He found great satisfaction in deleting the man in black's character and restarting the game- besides, his house was almost paid off, and that meant he'd get a new room and get to paint his roof green. He loved green.

"Get back," the younger boy shouted, firing a warning shot over the lobstrosity approaching Susannah. "I'm not kidding!"

"Oh, come on, Eddie. Look at him. He's kind of cute." The girl cocked a finger at the creature. It snapped at it and she jerked back. "NO. Bad lobbie. No bite."

"Did-a-chick?"

"No. No bite." It stared at her in disappointment.

"Are you crazy? That thing's gonna kill you, Suze!"

The sternness in the woman's voice made him hesitate. "Eddie, he isn't going to hurt me. Did you even TRY talking to one before? They listen quite well." Eddie glared at the thing. It hissed at him.

"I don't care what you think, that thing's dangerous."

"Roland! Tell him to leave me alone."

"Leave her alone." He cursed under his breath as he missed and the bug flew away. "I must repay my debt to Nook. I MUST!" Eddie sighed and shook his head.

"What's your name, little guy?"

"Dod-a-chock?"

"I'm Susannah. Who are you?"

It blinked. "OHHH. I'm Steve."

"Nice to meet you!" It extended a monstrous claw and she shook it. Eddie banged his head on a coconut tree. The coconut fell and hit him on the head.

"So, Steve, what do you do all day?"

The creature gazed thoughtfully at its claws. "Well, not much. I'm getting my master's degree, but I work part-time at Applebee's to pay my tuition. I'm almost done, actually. Then I'm gonna get my doctorate's."

"Wow, I'm impressed. Is it hard being out of water all night?"

"Not really. Mom works at a company that makes hypoallergenic salves and I get their leftover test samples. I can stay out longer than everybody else since the sand doesn't bother me."

"That's really cool. Do you want to meet my friend Roland?"

The lobstrosity hesitated. "Sure, but I'm not making any promises about that scrawny kid with the coconut."

Susannah peered up the dark embankment. "All right. He's got issues anyway." She raised her sweet voice to a yell. "Hey! Roland! Want to meet my new friend Steve?"

"Yar. As long as he won't take my game." She looked back at the creature and it nodded its consent. With a smile the girl lead Steve up the beach.
