A/N: This is a poem I wrote in August of 99 for a school project, I know it kind of stinks, but I got an A+ at the time, and I want to see what other people think...

A Sunset in the East

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It was a time I'll never forget
As I sit here and think, and watch the sunset
With Johnny and Dally and Sodapop
Two-Bit and Steve, the whole lot
And I wonder about if the Socs weren't drunk
And if my head had not been sunk
Would I have saved a lot of trouble
If I'd stayed away from the Nightly Double?
Would Bob still be alive?
Would Johnny have survived?
Would Cherry help us still?
Would Dally be shot at his own will?
Would I still have my tuff Greaser hair?
Would I have more of Darry's care?
Would I have seen Dally as a gallant man
If we hadn't used his plan?
Things are rough here in the east
And in the west they're having feasts
But they can have it hard, too
Randy'll tell you that it's true
"Things are rough all over," Cherry said...
Are they really, I wonder, as I lie in bed
And as time slowly passes by
I ask myself, "Why Johnny...why?"
If I had used my head and stayed home
Johnny would still be alive, I know
Johnny knew that way to be
Guess that's why he told me
And I can almost hear him say
Gold is the best way for me to stay
