A/N I thought about a nice MAG scene I had in my first GI fic Island Love and I decided to expand on it a bit and make a nice little one shot story. I hope you like it!

Gilligan was on his houseboat just relaxing and enjoying the warm sunny weather.
He enjoyed living out in California and working for Mr. Howell. How lucky was he that the millionaire hired him as part of his yacht crew. Well there was more than one yacht. Thurston Howell owned several yachts of different sizes. Sometimes he allowed the young sailor to take one out on the sea for a day of fishing.

Yes he led a pretty darn good life after having been rescued from the island. Wow it had been a whole year. He could not believe it was only a year since the seven castaways returned back to the states. The first mate recalled the elaborate party the Howells threw upon their return. What a fun time that was! A long table filled with delicious food including roast beef. Mmmm was that roast beef good! There was also a huge desert table. Cakes, pies, muffins, cupcakes, just all kinds of lush pastries! Gilligan hadn't had food that great in so long. Not that Mary Ann and Ginger's cooking on the island was terrible. It most certainly was not. He even learned to like Ginger's infamous fish pie. He was the only one. Gilligan remembered when she first made it. It was when Mary Ann had hit her head and believed herself to be Ginger. The movie star had to assume the role of the farm girl. She was none to pleased to say the least. The sailor was certain that she only made that pie to get even with them all for making her being someone she wasn't.

Gilligan did feel bad that she had to do that so to show her he appreciated it, he ate the entire fish pie. It actually was not bad. He liked it. Skipper looked at him wondering how in the world he could eat that dish! Ginger laughed saying that he didn't have to do that. He insisted it was the least he could do. No reason to waste good food.

There were several people at the party welcoming them back home. The Howells sure knew a lot of people. He recalled a funny incident.

A blonde woman had approached the Professor and began speaking with him. This did not please a certain redhead. Jealousy flashed in her green eyes and her claws came out. Ginger marched over to where the two were conversing and she seductively began kissing his ear and whispering lord knows what. This seemed to irk the female companion.

"Just what do you think you are doing?" She demanded of the movie star. "We are talking!"

Ginger stood toe to toe with the blonde woman. "I've known this man for four and a half years. We've been through everything together. Including a ditzy blonde rich socialite who tried to sink her claws into him. She didn't fare so well in her attempt and neither will you."

"Oh is that so?" The woman said getting steamed. "You are nothing but some washed up actress who never had any real talent."

"I am far from washed up honey." Ginger said advancing towards her causing the woman to step back. "I'm going to make a big splash in Hollywood. Everyone will know who I am. And they will know this man belongs to me. You can hightail your snooty self out of here!"

The woman fumed and looked at the Professor who was helpless to say anything. She glared at them both before stalking off in a huff.

The Professor was bewildered by all of this and wondered what was going on.

"Why did you do that?" He had asked of her. "I was having a pleasant conversation with this woman. Now why would you interrupt in such a manner?"

Ginger smiled. "Roy Hinkley for such a smart man you are awfully stupid."

"What is that supposed to mean?" The Professor inquired crossing in arms in that usual manner of his.

"I love you dummy!" Ginger declared. "I've loved you for four and half years!"

"Oh…I….you…I" was all the academic could manage to spit out before Ginger pressed her lips against his.

That blonde woman never showed her face again after that. Gilligan was certain she would never step foot around Ginger again. He couldn't blame the movie star. He felt the same way when some arrogant guy tried hitting on Mary Ann. The sailor did not like that one bit. No sir. Not in the least.

"Leave me alone!" Mary Ann said angerly to the rich playboy who accosted her. "I do not wish to dance with you!"

"Come on baby. It's time you spend some time with a real man. Not that puny wannabee sailor from the island. You can't tell me you didn't spend your nights dreaming about a real man."

"You are not a real man!" Mary Ann snapped trying to wriggle away from the creep. "And Gilligan is not a puny wannabee sailor. He was in the Navy!"

"They didn't succeed in making much out of him did they?" The man scoffed thinking he was clever.

"Let go of me!" Mary Ann shouted again. "Let me go!"

"Hey! You let her go!"

The farm girl looked seeing Gilligan standing there. The sailor moved closer towards the arrogant jerk. "Leave her alone." He said sternly.

"Oh what are you going to do about it stringbean?"

"This." Gilligan said raising his fist which connected with the man's jaw which caused him to fall backwards to the floor. He was going retaliate but saw the look in the sailor's face and thought better of it. Slowly he got up from the floor and sneered. "Fine. Your loss baby." He said to Mary Ann.

She glared at him as he left and said in a loud voice. "I don't see how it's my loss. I didn't go with you!"

Gilligan laughed as she said this and Mary Ann smiled. She thanked the first mate for saving her and they spent the rest of the party together.

The young sailor still kept in touch with her. He called her frequently and wrote her letters. She did the same telling him all about Kansas and the farm. In their last letter he asked her to come visit him out in California sometime if she was able to. She said she would most certainly try. He did still keep in touch with the Skipper as well. He decided to start a new venture. Dolphin watches. He and an Old Naval buddy of his started the business. Right there in California. Gilligan was glad he was still close and every other weekend he would help the Skipper on the watches. He liked being out on the water with him. Jonas Grumby was still his best buddy in the whole world.

"Hey there!" A cheerful voice called out breaking his thoughts.
He turned his head and a smiled broke out on his face. "Mary Ann!" Gilligan exclaimed running over to the brunette girl and lifting her up in a big hug causing her to drop the bags she had in her arms.

"Hello Gilligan!" She said as he set her down.

"Wow Mary Ann I can't believe you are here! You didn't tell me you were coming out to visit."

"I know." The farm girl said with a smile. "I wanted to surprise you." She then bent down picking up her bags.

"Oh sorry Mary Ann." Gilligan said apologetically.

"That's alright. I'm used to you knocking things down." She joked as she put the items back in the paper bag and stood up.

"What is all that?"

"Oh I thought I would make you a nice dinner. And I have the ingredients for coconut cream pie."

"Oh boy!" Gilligan said. "That's sounds great! I miss your pies Mary Ann."

"I thought so." She said. "Come on. Help me bring these in. Right through there?" Mary Ann gesturing to the steps leading below deck.

"Yes that's right." He said taking one of the bags.

The pair made their way down and Mary Ann found the small kitchen area. She set the bags down and took note of the different pictures the sailor had hung up. One in particular she smiled at. A newspaper clipping of Ginger and the Professor after their wedding. Ginger looked so beautiful in that gorgeous dress! What a wonderful day that was!

She turned her attention back to the counter and emptied the bags. She placed some of the items in the small refrigerator. "You have a nice place here." Mary Ann remarked folding a bag. "Nice and cozy."

"Thank you. It belongs to Mr. Howell. He lets me stay here. I offered to pay him rent but he refused. "

"Wow." Mary Ann laughed. "Mr. Howell refusing money? That's a new one."

"I know. I tried to talk him into it but he insisted that I didn't need to."

"Well that was nice of him." The farm girl looked at the clock on the wall. "So what do you do for fun around here? Want to see a movie? Is Ginger's movie out yet?"

"No her movie doesn't come out until next month I think. Say we can go see the Skipper. He has a dolphin watch business."

"Oh that sounds like fun." Mary Ann said. "Let's do that."

The two hurried up the stairs and to Gilligan's car. They got in the blue convertible and drove off. Mary Ann enjoyed the wind whipping through her hair. She flicked the radio on and a favorite song of hers came on One Fine Day sung by the Chiffons. Mary Ann began singing along to it and Gilligan smiled at her off key voice. He still remembered when she tried to sing like Ginger and what a disaster it turned out to be.
Deep down the sailor thought there was a little performer inside the farm girl. Maybe she wasn't as talented as Ginger was but he still liked it.

The car reached a dock with the blue sign proclaiming in gold paint Grumby & Jacobs Dolphin Cruises. One the sign painted was a sea captain and a dolphin .
"How nice." Mary Ann said as they got out of the car.

The pair approached the boat and the Skipper spotted them. "Hey look who's here!" He exclaimed as they boarded the boat.

"Hello Skipper!" Mary Ann said hugging him.

"Hi there Mary Ann. How nice to see you again."

"You too." She said as she let go. "How have you been doing?"

"Great." The sea captain smiled. "Got a great little business here. Really booming."

"I'm glad." The farm girl said. "Gilligan and I decided to go on the watch today. It sounded like fun."

"It is." The Skipper assured. "You will have a great time. Why don't you two sit right over there. You'll get the best view of the dolphins there."

"Great thanks Skipper." Mary Ann smiled.

Gilligan and Mary Ann took their seats and the sailor whispered that the Skipper said every seat was the best to view the dolphins. This caused Mary Ann to giggle.

A few more passengers made their way aboard and the watch began. The boat slowly pulled away from the dock and out into the water. Mary Ann smiled as she looked out at the view. So pretty. She really missed this being in Kansas. The farm girl didn't realize how much she had come to love the ocean. She surmised that being on the island all those years, she must have become fond of it.

It was maybe a half hour later a dolphin popped up out of the water and Mary Ann pointed with excitement. Another creature jumped up and the brunette marveled at the sight. Gilligan watched her thinking she looked very pretty. Her hair pulled back into a single pony tale with a blue ribbon. She wore a matching blue dress with straps. He detected a scent on her. A very soft delicate scent he liked very much.

The watch continued on with Mary Ann smiling with delight at all the dolphins they were seeing. Her eyes went to Gilligan who was looking out at the water trying to spot another one. She took note of his features. Yes he was not Rock Hudson but did that matter? Gilligan was attractive in his own adorable way. Why he had the most kind eyes she had ever seen. And she loved his smile. That goofy smile he would get on his face sometimes she thought was endearing. What a great guy the sailor man was!

Later Gilligan's Boat

"What a wonderful day." Mary Ann said happily. "I loved being out on the water. I can't believe we saw so many dolphins."

"I know. Sometimes we don't get to see any at all. Skipper always feels bad when that happens. But today was a good one. I guess they knew you were here and wanted to say hello." He grinned."
Mary Ann laughed. "Oh Gilligan. You are too much. I'm going to get dinner started."
She went over to the kitchen to start dinner. Gilligan hung back in the living room area and looked out one of the port holes. His eyes went back to Mary Ann and he thought she looked especially pretty. More than pretty. Beautiful. Mary Ann Summers was a beautiful woman. Woman. She was a woman. A young girl she may have started out four and half years ago but she had grown up.

He turned his attention back to the port hole but his eyes again once fell on the brunette in the kitchen as she prepared a steak. His emotion were getting the best of him and he could not fight it.

Gilligan walked to where she was and she looked up. "Hey." She smiled. "You want to help me with dinner?"

He didn't answer with word. Instead the sailor pulled her into his arms and placed a sweet soft kiss on her pink lips. It lasted for a few more seconds before he let go.
Mary Ann stared back out feeling like her breath was taken away. Her brown eyes gazed back at him. Not a word was said as he led her away from the kitchen and over to where his sleeping quarters were. The stove had been turned off and the food forgotten about.

Carefully, he unzipped the back of her dress and slid it off allowing it to land on the floor.
His eyes took her in and he ever in his dreams imagined she was that perfect. Mary Ann lifted her somewhat shaky hands and picked up his white had tossing it aside. She then slowly lifted his red shirt up and over his head and it joined her dress.

The sailor pulled her into his arms and captured her mouth in a deep kiss. Mary Ann felt herself being lifted up and placed down on the bed. Gilligan leaned over her and saying in a voice just above a whisper. "I love you."

Tears formed in Mary Ann's eyes. "I love you too." She choked out. "I love you Gilligan."

Their lips joined together again in a passionate kiss. Mary Ann's hands went up his back and clutched his shoulders before running through his soft brown hair.
His lips moved to her neck and he took in that wonderful scent he enjoyed earlier.
Nothing else in the world seemed to exist except the two of them.

It was after they were basking in the beauty of what had occurred between them.
Mary Ann's head was against his chest and his arm was around her, his fingers gently touching her. "Wow." She said. "I didn't….Gilligan that was amazing."

"I think you are amazing." He stated kissing the top of her head. "I'm sorry I hadn't told you years ago that I loved you."

Mary Ann lifted herself up, the sheet around her body. "You loved me for that long?"

"Yeah I did. I didn't think…I thought you would only think of me as friend. I didn't believe you would…you know…want more."

Mary Ann smiled. "Gilligan I didn't think you would want to be more than friends. You were always so scared of girls."

"Just Ginger." He smiled. "I was never afraid of you. I liked you. You were always nice to me and you stood up for me a lot. I always appreciated that."

"I'm sorry about that time I said you were a troublemaker. I didn't mean to say that."

"That's okay. I know I could be a bit of a pest on the island. I always knew that you all cared about me." He assured. "I guess with only seven people, it was hard to not get on one another's nerves every now and then."

"That's true." Mary Ann said. "You know I'm glad I went out on the Minnow. I don't care what we got stranded. I got to meet you and love you Gilligan. You are so much better than the boys back home. I love you."

She pressed her lips against his again and they were once again wrapped up in their passion. Later they both realized they were starving and Mary Ann stood in the kitchen wearing Gilligan's red rugby shirt. It was clearly too big for her but that didn't bother her.
The sailor thought she looked cute. They almost started again but Mary Ann managed to get things under control.

She set the plates out and after saying grace they dug into the meal. Gilligan chattered on about his job with Mr. Howell and also how Mrs. Howell would recruit him to carry her bags on her shopping trips. Boy can that woman shop! He never knew there were so many types of shoes in his life! She was very gracious about it. Many times she would buy him lunch and every once in awhile they went to one of those make your own sundae places. He then launched into the type of sundae he would make.

Mary Ann smiled listening to his stories. She could just see him with whipped cream and hot fudge all over his face. What a sight that must be!

Later they were on the deck of the boat watching the stars. "It's so pretty." Mary Ann sighed as Gilligan held her from behind. He kissed the top of her head and said nothing. The sailor was sad thinking about how she would leave in a few days and head back to Kansas. Who knew when he would get to see her again.

The farm girl smiled back at him. "I love being here with you Gilligan."

"I like being here with you too Mary Ann. I wish it didn't have to end though."

She turned around to face him. "What do you mean?"

"You are going to go back to Kansas in a few days."

"Yes that's true but…you can come out to visit me." She said. "I would love for you to see the farm."

Gilligan sighed. "Yeah I guess."

"What's wrong?" Mary Ann asked. "You okay?"

"No." Gilligan said moving away. "I'm not okay. Mary Ann I love you. I don't want a long distance relationship. I want to be with you. But you have your life in Kansas and I have my life here."

"What are you saying Gilligan?"

"I'm saying…I think I have to let you go." He said looking into her eyes. "I have to say good-bye."

"Good-bye?" Mary Ann said bewildered. "You can't..You can't mean that!"

"I do." He said firmly. "I do mean it. This is not going to work."

"What? I…" The farm girl said tearfully. "You….Gilligan…this can't be it! It can't be!"

"It has to be." Gilligan said with frustration. "I cannot keep this up. I can't wait for you to visit me and for me to get the time to visit you. I want you with me and that's not possible so you….I have to let you go. It's for the best."

Tears poured down her face. She wanted to speak but no words would come. Slowly she made her way down the stairs below deck. Sniffing, she threw off the red shirt and picked up her dress from the floor. Mary Ann pulled the garment on and found her shoes shoving her feet in. Her eyes spotted her purse and she flung it over her shoulder.

As if in a trance, she stepped one step at time up the staircase to the deck. She saw Gilligan standing with his back turned to her on the other side. A part of her hoped he would turn around and say he didn't mean it and pull her into his arms kissing her. It didn't happen. She looked away and made her way very slowly to her car.

As if she was moving in slow motion, she started up the car and drove away from the dock. Tears built up in her eyes again and spilled over. She tried to wipe them away but couldn't. They just would not stop. Her hotel came into view and she pulled into the space. Mary Ann collected herself enough to make her way inside and ride up the elevator. She felt like her legs had weights on them as she dragged herself down the hallway after leaving the elevator. Her eyes saw the door with the gold number 217. Digging through her purse, she found the key and unlocked the door stepping inside.

Mindlessly, she made her way to the bedroom and collapsed on the bed into a fit of tears. Her fist pounded on the bed and she just sobbed uncontrollably. She felt like a knife was jammed into her heart. It was a pain like she had never known before. Nothing else that happened in her life was like the hurt she was feeling at that moment.
Finally she fell asleep on the bed exhausted from her tears.

Two Days Later

Mary Ann was in the airport feeling numb. Her last two days in California were like a blur. She went to visit Ginger and the Professor. They were both glad to see her and told her they would be sure to visit her out in Kansas. Of course it would be after the baby was born. Ginger was going to have a baby. When Mary Ann heard the news she said she was happy but inside she felt like she was dying. She knew she was supposed to show more enthusiasm for her redheaded friend but she couldn't. She just couldn't. Mary Ann did not tell either of them about Gilligan. Why bore them with her problems? She was sure they wouldn't want to hear it and she really didn't want to tell them.
No one she was going to tell. It was not going to happen.

A boarding call was made over the PA system and Mary Ann checked her watch. Her flight wouldn't be for another forty five minutes. She picked up a magazine someone had left and flipped through it. She saw a piece in the publication about Ginger. A gorgeous picture to accommodate it. Sighing, she tossed it aside. Well at least things were going good for the movie star. She felt bad about not being more thrilled about the baby. She would be sure to make something nice for the child. Maybe a dress if it was a girl. Or a pair of overalls. Maybe both.

Her eyes watched the crowd in the airport. It didn't seem fair that everyone was busy going about their lives while her heart was breaking. She wanted to stand up and shout at the crowd of folks but knew that was silly. It wasn't their fault. They didn't make Gilligan say good-bye. Another flight announcement was made and then all of a sudden she thought she heard her name. No. It couldn't be. Why in the world would the flight attendant call her name?
She was losing her mind.

"Mary Ann Summers. I love you and I'm sorry I hurt you. I was wrong to say those things. Will you marry me?" A male voice said.

Her heart pounded. She looked around thinking she was dreaming. Slowly she stood up.
It seemed everyone's eyes were on her. Mary Ann scanned the busy terminal until they fell upon a lanky male wearing a trademark white hat and red shirt. A smile broke out across her face and she dashed towards him.

"Miss Miss…." A voice said.

"Huh?" Mary Ann said jerking awake. "What? What…"

"I'm sorry." The woman a flight attendant uniform said. "But we are boarding the plane now. You are on the flight back to Kansas right?"

"Oh yeah…I guess I must have fallen asleep." She said standing and picking up her bag.

Boarding pass and ticket in hand she went to stand in the line. A few minutes later, she was aboard the plane and she sat down in her seat. It was going to be a long flight. Maybe she could lose herself in a movie or something. Anything to get her mind off of…

"Hello." A voice said.

Mary Ann turned her head and her jaw dropped at the sight of a young male with brown hair and blue eyes wearing faded blue jeans and a blue short sleeved shirt. No it couldn't be…No clearly she was dreaming again. Any minute the stewardess would wake her…

"Mary Ann." The male said.

She looked up again. "Gilligan? What..what are you doing here?"

"I came to tell you that I love you. I don't want to let you go. I'm sorry I said those things. Mary Ann." He said getting down on his knee. "Will you marry me?"

"You want….you want to marry me? But you said…we have different lives.."

"I know. And I was stupid to say that. I was wrong. I don't want to lose you Mary Ann. I love you. I don't want to live without you. Please…will you marry me?"

Tears formed in her eyes again but they were of joy "Oh Gilligan…Gilligan…YES! Yes I'll marry you!"

He stood up and pulled her into his arms kissing her lips. The other passengers on the flight cheered. Mary Ann pulled away . "Gilligan I love you. I can't wait to tell the others…"

"You won't have too." He grinned.

"What do you…" She looked and saw Ginger and the Professor along with the Howells and Skipper.

"What are you all doing here?"

"Why planning your wedding of course." Mrs. Howell stated.

"What?"

"You want to have your wedding in Kansas don't you?" Ginger asked.

"Oh! Gilligan you are…I love you!" She said throwing her arms around him. "I can't believe you did this! I love you so much. You are the best!"

The wedding was quite an affair. The Summers barn was transformed into a nice chapel.
It was everything Mary Ann could have dreamed of. Ginger stood as maid of honor and the Skipper was best man.

Later at the reception, a special song play. One Fine Day. Mary Ann smiled. Well that fine day did arrive. She was indeed Gilligan's girl!

The End!
