Batman's Biggest Case
Batman the Dark Knight, with Robin the Boy Wonder at his side, swung through the air on his jumpline, heading for Police Headquarters and the shaft of light coming from the Bat-Signal.
"What do you think the problem is, Batman? The Riddler casting conundrums at the Caped Crusaders? The Joker getting his jollies?" Robin asked as they landed on the roof of Police Headquarters.
"Ouch! Alliterative today, aren't you old chum?" Batman replied, shaking his head. "I think we would know if it was something so simple, Robin." Batman looked around for a moment, then shook his head, "Officer McReavy, where is the Commissioner?"
From his position standing next to the Bat-Signal, the officer spoke, "He's down in his office with two federal agents that need to speak with you, Batman. They said it was urgent but they didn't want to wait up on the roof."
"Thank you, McReavy, you've been a big help. Let's go see the Commissioner, chum", Batman stated as he went over the side of the building, climbing down to Commissioner Gordon's office.
"Wow, Batman! Federal agents. Whatever it is, it must be huge!" Robin said excitedly as he followed.
"Indeed, chum. I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to the biggest case of our crime fighting careers!"
(Indeed, Batman! For, at that very moment, in Commissioner Gordon's office!)
"Are you gentlemen sure that this is correct?" Commissioner Gordon asked as he looked over the paperwork and then at the two suited federal agents sitting in the chairs in front of his desk.
"Yes, Commissioner, it is perfectly in order.", Agent Soames replied.
(Meanwhile, the Dynamic Duo are making their way down the side of the building as a window opens and a familiar head comes out.)
Robin gasped as he recognized the person, "Batman, look! It's William Shatner!"
"Why so it is, chum." Batman commented.
William Shatner looked around, examined the Caped Crusaders in their colorful costumes, then ducked back in the room saying, "You were wrong, Spock. There's no intelligent life here. Let's go back to the ship."
(Back in Commissioner Gordon's office!)
"Now where is Batman?" asked the taller of the two sitting agents.
"I don't know, Agent Soames", the Commissioner started to say then stopped as the Dynamic Duo swung in through the windows.
"Good evening, Commissioner...gentlemen. What seems to be the problem?" Batman asked as he observed them, standing by the window.
The agents stood up, Soames taking the papers from Commissioner Gordon. "You are Batman?"
"Of course he is!" exclaimed the Boy Wonder, "Who couldn't tell that this is Batman?"
Agent Soames walked over to Batman and held out the papers, then as Batman took them to read, "I'm Agent Soames. This is my partner Agent McDonald. Batman, we have no tax forms with your name on them and haven't since you began fighting crime, therefore it is my duty to inform you that you are under arrest for failure to pay taxes on the income you use to fund your crimefighting and property taxes on your Batmobile, Batcyle, Batjet, and other items to be disclosed after a full review of your headquarters."
"No one gets away with tax evasion, Caped Crusader."
