This is a parallel earth. This is where my life had fallen a part and then was put together again.

When I first came here I thought that I'd never be happy again, I suppose I saw the Doctor as my happiness… but that whole plan changed when I met a young man named Spike.

A young man with many secrets, he taught me how to live and to love again. He showed me how to forget my former life and to live in the presence. I thought nothing bad would ever happen again.

That's what I thought… but then I found out something that changed my life forever… and that's when it ended again.

This is the story of how I was reborn…

It all started one night when I had stayed late at work one night. Ever since the events of the war when my family and I got stuck on the parallel earth, I had taken to working at the Torchwood.

Rose Tyler, Defender of the Earth. That's what they call me… that's what he called me… The Doctor.

Anyway it was really dark out, and I suppose you'll understand later exactly it's important that it was so dark out. All I'm going to say is that it becomes important in what Spike is.

Anyway, around here there have been all these stories about going out at night and I suppose I'd find out later that it was a really bad idea going out this late, but I suppose I thought it was nothing a couldn't handle.

That was when I saw him.

He was just standing there, he didn't see me I guess his head was turned and he was looking to the right, his eyes focused on something.

He was average height; a bit taller than me, with platinum blond hair, and pale blue eyes. He was dressed in black pants, a black t-shirt and a heavy black coat over that.

I had no idea who this guy was; I had never seen him around before, but then again, this is London it's not exactly a small city.

"Hello, love."

I suddenly turned my head someone was talking to me, I looked at the young man. His eyes were staring directly into mine. His arms were crossed across his chest and he was giving me a smug smirk.

"Who are you?" I asked him looking at him.

"The names and you're Rose right? Rose Tyler, Defender of the Earth… that's what they call you isn't it?" He said.

"I guess you've heard of me then." I said looking him over suspiciously.

"Of course I did, the second I stepped foot in London that's all I seemed to hear about… Rose Tyler, the savior of Torchwood." Spike said.

"So exactly where were you from before you came here?" I asked him looking over him.

I looked at him there was something about him, it wasn't something human, but it wasn't something alien either.

I shook it off and began to walk away.

"Rose!"

I spun around and looked back at Spike.

"Take this, it's for protection."

Spike tossed something at me, I caught it and looked at it… it was a wooden stake.

"Exactly what would I need a wooden stake for?" I asked looking at him. It was laughable, I've met a lot of strange people on my travels with the Doctor, but this guy had to be the strangest.

"Let's just say," Spike said as he walked towards me, he suddenly placed his hand on my arm, his touch made me shiver but in a good way, "London is about the become hell on Earth."

He then dropped his hand, and began to walk away into the darkness.
