Author's Note: I got this idea during the first few episodes of the first season. This is one way that I thought they could end the series.

Jack ran through the jungle, the monster right on his heels. He emerged from the jungle into a clearing. Damn it! He was right out in the open. He couldn't outrun this, this thing much longer. He was already tired. It would only be a few seconds until it caught up with him here and found him. He frantically looked around and saw some bushes. He jumped into them and tried to remain quiet.

As he waited for the monster to get him, he thought about what had been happening recently. Everyone had been killed. He was the only survivor left. That thing had killed them all while he was on a trek through the jungle. He had come back to the caves to find it completely empty except for a few dead bodies. Among them was Kate's. Not having time to grieve, he had heard that horrendous roar. He took off into the jungle.

A mechanical roar had snapped him out of his thoughts. He took a deep breath and looked through the bushes. What the hell? He couldn't believe it. Jack opened the hole in the bushes a little more, astounded by what he saw. Some twenty feet in front of him was what looked like a metallic ball. It was hovering a few feet off of the ground. It had a red light in its center. It quickly swiveled towards the right when a bird flew by. Jack guessed that the laser was a motion detector. All of a sudden he heard the horrendous roar.

Jack ducked down and covered his head with his hands. He then realized that the sound was coming from the metallic ball. If I'm going to die, I'm going to have this question answered first. As quietly as he could, he stood up and walked towards the ball. It quickly spun around, the red light focused on him. Gathering his courage, Jack moved forward.

Meanwhile, two people in chairs were staring at dozens of monitors on the wall. On each screen were dead bodies, some focused on the beach, others the caves, others the jungle. One of them was focused on Jack. He was moving closer and closer to the camera.

"Should I end it?" one of the men asked.

"Yes," the second man replied. The first man pressed a red button.

Jack was just inches away from the floating orb. He reached out and touched it. It felt like metal, that was all. "What is this!" he shouted. "Who are you!" he screamed into the jungle, his face distorted in anger. All of a sudden he heard a beep. He spun around and looked at the metallic ball. He saw a small light on its side flash on. All of a sudden a small dart flew from the orb and landed in his neck. He fell to the ground while trying to pull the dart out, his eyes slowly closing.

"Done," the men said simultaneously, sitting in their room. One of them pushed a button, and all of the monitors turned off. As they walked out of the room they closed the door. In tiny bold letters, it says SOCIOLOGY EXPERIMENT.
