Disclaimer: I do not own Pokemon; I do not own The Lion King; I do not own "I Just Can't Wait to Be King."

A/N: Originally completed 8/17/10, my sister's birthday, as a birthday present for her. (She loves Pokemon.) I had to rewrite it as "dialogue" of sorts, to succeed in publishing it on this site. So, the dialogue rhymes-IT'S THE DIALOGUE THAT MAKES UP THE POEM. I hope it doesn't confuse readers. Readers who I hope will review lots!

"I'll Be the Best—Wait and See"

"I'm gonna be the very best, like no one ever was!" Ash proclaimed.

"And I guess you think the rest of us will buy that 'just because'?" Gary shot back.

"I'm gonna be a Master soon, one everybody knows.

A-capturing my pokemon, a-working on my pose!" Ash continued.

"So far, you've really failed to impress me," Gary pointed out.

"Oh, I'll be the best—wait and see!" Ash delivered the hook.

"You've still got a long way to go, great 'Master,' " Gary said dryly. "If you think—"

"No one saying, 'Take this,' " Ash went on, intentionally or by chance ignoring his rival.

"Now, when I said that—" Ash's mom began to say.

"No one saying, 'You jerk'!" Ash continued.

"What I meant was—" Misty started to defend herself.

"No one saying, 'Be that,' " Ash sang on.

"What you don't realize—" Professor Oak began to bluster.

"No one saying, 'Loser'!" Ash interrupted someone for the fourth time since the song began.

"You loser!" Gary sneered, taking the perfect opportunity to bring his rival down.

"Gonna catch 'em all, one day," Ash sang the catchphrase with flair.

"Well, there's definitely doubt. . ." Brock put it.

"Gonna reach the top, my way!" Ash warbled; it was more of a bellow than a tune.

"I think you ought to take a break sometime, and visit home!" fretted Ash's mom.

"Mom, Pokemon Masters should be always free to roam!" Ash said indignantly.

Gary mocked him, "If this is where your 'mastery' is headed, count me in!

Oh, I'd love to see you beat the best—I'd like to see you win!

Ha! A Pokemon Master you will never be. . ."

"Oh, I'll be the best—wait and see!" Ash sang again.

(Brief instrumental break)

Ash kept on singing, "Throw the pokeball—up!

Throw the pokeball—down!

World's greatest Master

From Pallet Town!"

"Yeah—me!" Gary yelled.

Now Ash's mom, Brock, Misty, Officer Jenny, and Nurse Joy all sang together. "So, everybody let your cheers break free.

A Pokemon Master our Ash will be."

"Pika-ka chu Pikachu, Pikapi!" Pikachu joined in.

Ash sang the song to the end: "Oh, I'll be the best—wait and see!

Oh, I'll be the best—wait and see!

Oh, I'll be the best . . .

Wait and see!"
