Staring at the sleeping form in front of him, Doumeki Shizuka waited. He waited for the pale skinned boy to wake up and yell at the archer for no reason, waving his arms in the air with a crimson blush on his face. Doumeki didn't want to see this almost lifeless side of Watanuki, dreaming in a world Doumeki could not reach.
He had asked the witch what he could do for the mismatched eye boy, willing to pay the highest price for his Watanuki. But alas, Yuuko shook her head, telling him that there was nothing for him to do other than keep watch over the sleeping boy.
To protect the delicate body in this world.
That was why the amber eyed archer waited. To prevent any danger from happening to the young spectacled boy.
But inside, Doumeki yearned for Watanuki's mind. He wanted to hear the yelling, the whispers and the gentle caring words again - even if there weren't for his ears. He wanted to see those eyes stare into his own, with the same emotional glare as before. To see the one beautiful crystal blue that felt like the glow of innocence when looked upon, and to see the other golden amber - to see the proof of their connection once again.
That was it.
A connection.
Doumeki wanted so badly to connect to this boy again. Even though the archer had already given half his sight and his blood, he wanted more. He wanted to give his heart to Watanuki. He wanted to give his mind and soul to the boy, so that he would never be alone again. He wanted Watanuki to know that he was no longer by himself, because Doumeki would swear that he would be there for him. The amber eyed boy would all that he can to protect... and to love the young boy.
Even though he cannot be with Watanuki right at this moment, Doumeki squeezed the soft pale hand gently as he laid his head down on the bed, waiting for him to return.
The emotions that welled up inside the archer made him want to shout at Watanuki to come back to him, to embrace him, to kiss, to release the tears that never fell... to see how Watanuki would respond to all this... after all, anything is better than nothing.
However, Doumeki did none of this. He kept a lid on those emotions and watched Watanuki's chest rise and fall with every breath, waiting for him.
Doumeki eventually lifted his head and held up Watanuki's soft-motherly hand against his face, placing a feather kiss on the marriage finger. He let out a silent sigh as he whispered quietly to the dreaming boy.
"I'm right here."
